Congrats to a GREAT Judge team. You guys deserved the win as you clearly showed you where the BEST 3A team and in my opinion TOP 2 or 3 in the State! It was a GREAT game yesterday and FUN for the fans. Great Baseball by both clubs. Congratulations and hope we can see each other again next year for some great baseball.

Incredible year for the Bulldogs. Finally, a State Championship in baseball.

But leaving Court Z of Judge off the all-tournament team is a mistake. Five homers in the tournament including three in one game. We know what you did to help this team win.

Congrats Judge! You did it! You played hard all year and you deserve all the recongition you get!

ya considering that Court only struck out the remaining times he got at bats...
Anonymous | 7:16 a.m. May 18, 2008
sweet Judge. Top 2 or 3 in the state is taking it a little far. I'm sure we are in the top 50 though
JD alumni | 8:22 a.m. May 18, 2008
Congrats Judge. You guys earned the title and did it in impressive style only losing once all year. Obviously we were no match for your great pitching. I think this brings our record against you in the last 4 years to 0-7 against you guys. Pond and Carman have always been tough for us to hit even when they were freshman. Good year for JD as well. Congrats again to Judge

Court Z. is a slugger but the State tournaments is all about pitching.
re Judge Fan | 10:29 a.m. May 18, 2008
First of all congrats to Judge and ALL their players, but which one of the other 5 Judge players would Court Z replace? Or is 5 Judge players on the all tournament team not enough? Not only do you win the Championship but need players on the All Tournament Team as well? What about the JD, Canyon View, Bear River & Cedar players that made it? Should we scratch one of them to make room for Court Z? Just be happy with a win. There were a lot of other GREAT players not on the list as well, but no all the players could make it.

While recruiting is apparently on everyone's mind, it is off-topic and comments referring to it will be deleted. Also, any criticism of student athletes or coaches violates our policy in coverage of prep athletics.

i don't think judge has enough room in their trophy case for all these state titles! can anyone say 3a sports school of the year for the 5th time in 6 years??
don't think so | 3:48 p.m. May 18, 2008
judge - good team, yes...top 2-3 in state? - no way...3A is one thing, 5A is another...congrats anyway!
Logan Griz | 6:30 p.m. May 18, 2008
Hey Bulldog, have fun with your 2nd place football trophy! Hope that one doesn't take up too much room in your trophy case!

Congratulations to the Juan Diego Baseball Players. You are a bunch of great kids and to you 8 seniors good job and thanks for being such great team leaders we have enjoyed watching you all these years, you all have worked so hard and now you are going off to College and my best wishes go out to each and everyone of you. Also congratulations to Ryan Elorreaga for your academic all state award, good job. Juan Diego your fans are proud of you players, you are all great players and show great sportsmanship out on that field, you make your school and fans so/so proud of you. GREAT JOB>> Congratulations to Judge and Joe Pond. Also congratulations to all of the 3A Baseball teams, you have all done a terrific job this year representing your schools. Thanks........

Lets see this year. You got us last year at the end. History won't repeat itself.
Gates field | 9:20 p.m. May 18, 2008
ALL THE TEAMS were great during the tournament. The 3 A schools that played during the tournament all showed a lot of class. Congratulations to all the teams that were able to make it to the play offs.
Anonymous | 9:23 p.m. May 18, 2008
Congrats, you finally won the big one. Not bad considering that Snow Canyon, Dixie and Pine View are raising cane in 4A.
JM '73 | 9:30 p.m. May 18, 2008
Well done, great effort by both teams - the feeling by a lot of fans is that this is a precursor of things to come.

STATE CHAMPS BASEBALL 08!!!
Congrats! | 10:04 p.m. May 18, 2008
I don't care who you are or how you got there... winning the state title is no easy task; but in the end it is priceless. Judge deserves the repect they deserve. No, I am not a Judge parent nor fan - but a true fan of the game and the amazing feat it is to get the top honor. Hey Bulldogs - cherish this forever! JD certainly deserves repect as well, they played a great tournament. Cedar, Bear River and Canyon View all great teams... Great Work Gentlemen!
Nostradomis | 8:31 a.m. May 19, 2008
Who did not want to give Judge the trophy before the tournament? Classic example of their dominance. Only one team with one pitcher had a chance; Canyon View and Mike Diedrick.

It would be nice to know where this team stacks up compared to the rest of the state. You would be a fool to say that Pond, Carmen, or Walker couldn't beat any team in the state on a given day. That should say how good this team is.

Like I predicted before; Judge will walk through the tournament and everyone else was playing for 2nd place.
re nostradomis | 10:18 a.m. May 19, 2008
Judge did not walk through the tournament they had to play their best baseball or they would have been beat they are an amazing team but they still had to play hard. they barely got past canyon view they didnt walk over them.
I'd Like to Thank? | 12:30 p.m. May 19, 2008
Hey Judge while you guys are busy thanking and praising people at your baseball banquet. Just don't forget to thank the numerous different little leagues and babe ruth/superleagues, other than your own feeder program, that helped produce these kids! This is not a knock about recuiting it is just a reminder to keep things in perspective. I know the truth hurts a little sometimes but those players need to make a phone call or two to the coaches in thier home neighborhoods and tell them thanks!
Facts | 12:54 p.m. May 19, 2008
Judge's record vs. 4A and 5A opponents

5-1

Runs scored 54

Runs Allowed 13

Ironically the only team in these two classifications to beat Judge did not even make it to their state tournament; even though they were ranked as high as 5th at the end of the season in some rankings.
Judge vs BYU | 1:14 p.m. May 19, 2008
After reading some of these commnent it appears to me that some of us Judge fans (and I am one of them) are acting like BYU fans, we had a great team this year don't put a black eye on are season by being classless, learn from some of the great State Championship team from the past such as T-ville, Skyline, Pineview, and yes Juan Diego, like them Judge was VERY GOOD this year but us as fans need to learn to win with class we will get a lot more respect by doing so. Good job Bulldogs.
re: Fan | 1:26 p.m. May 19, 2008
i.e., Juan Diego Fan; 0-3 against Judge. Nine out of 10 times Judge will beat you. Check that; 98 out of 100 times Judge will beat you. The other two will go into extra innings and maybe divine intervention will save you. Grace

You played a great tournament though. Next year you will be great and maybe have a chance; maybe. Provided you can beat Judge, however.
fan | 1:41 p.m. May 19, 2008
Good Job Bulldogs.
4A 5A No Way | 1:50 p.m. May 19, 2008
To those of you who think Judge would beat the 4A and 5A teams left in the state tournament, I dont think so. Every team left has a Dietrick, and a Carman. After seeing you score only 3 runs on a very good pitcher, that tells me thats all you would score on the best 4A and 5A pitchers. You have not faced pitchers like Dietrick every game you play. Your hitters hit good against 3A pitching (minus Dietrick) they would not do so well seeing a quality pitcher every time they play a game. Sure you beat some 4A and 5A teams but you need to look at who they threw at you. Have you faced Seacrest, Nelson,Jones, Duke, Raymond, Aiken, Banks, Gentry, or any other pitcher the quality of Dietrick, until you have dont make the claim that you will beat the major 4A and 5A teams left. 4A and 5A teams see this quality all day long. Please take your 3A crown and boast that you are the best 3A team and nothing more.
RE: Facts | 2:16 p.m. May 19, 2008
Please tell the whole truth, not a truth that is misleading. Sure your record is a lofty 5-1 but look at who you played in those 6 games and thier record. East 5-17, Highland 3-19, West 6-16, Woodscross 7-15, Lone Peak 17-5 remember that seacrest did not pitch, Snow Canyon 14-8 with 7 wins coming against 3A teams. Only 1 team of the 6 made it to thier state playoffs. That is impressive to say the least. Please keep your coments to the 3A teams only. Does'nt sound so good now does it.
Judge | 2:21 p.m. May 19, 2008
You guys were pretty impressive this year but kudos to Wasatch and Union they both scored 14 runs on you in 3 games each, Wasatch actually gave you the most challenge on their field when Pond pitched when they knocked him out of the game in the 5th inning after scoring all their runs! Bummer Wasatch couldn't get another chance at you in the Tournament, till next year!!
OH MY | 3:06 p.m. May 19, 2008
why do you people get on here an argue about who can beat who, why do you do this. why not just be happy for all the great baseball players in the State of Utah. We have so many wonderful young men on and off the field and you want to spoil it by bashing other teams and thinking you are better than the other. Come on do not do that to these teams and these players. It gets old, just be happy for these players and everyone that has made it to the State playoff games and who has made it this far. It is an honor for each team and each player to make it into the state playoff games. And it an honor to make it to the state championship game for both teams that reach that goal, from 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A. And for the team that wins it all that is even a better honor, but as fans do not sit on here and ruin it by arguing, give more respect to the game and especially more respect to these players, they deserve it. GREAT JOB Gentleman.
To: 4A 5A No Way | 3:19 p.m. May 19, 2008
Actually, quite a few of the players on Judge's baseball team have in fact, faced Seacrest, Nelson, Jones, Duke, Raymond, Aiken, Banks, Gentry, Billbry, Green, Matina, Nyburg, Littlewood, etc., and hit well off of them. These kids have all played with and against each other for years on super league teams, as well as pre-season and post season games over the last 3 years. The pitchers that you mentioned (plus others) are great. The Judge line up, top to bottom is strong, and it is probably because they have faced quite a few of those pitchers over the years. Would they beat the top 4A and 5A teams? Who knows. Hard to say. But, I bet they would be very competitive against them.
Judge Fan | 3:45 p.m. May 19, 2008
All these comments are unbelievable. Kudos to Judge first title in the history of the school. They are a GREAT group of kids, I am so sick of the 4A, 5A comments, Diedrick is going D1 are any of the other 4A, 5A pitchers you mention above doing that? Even so, Judge still beat him, yes alot of strike outs and you are right because Judge doesn't face pitchers like that everytime out but don't think for a second that automatically means they would not be in the same position. I would take 90% of a Judge position player and compare them to your 4A, 5A team and would bet by baseball tools Judge would be up there. Pond is right there if not better than all of the pitchers you mention as is Carman and Walker. Walker by the way, has pitched strong all year not only just against Canyon View. Fantastic to have a Catholic school championship of Judge and Juan Diego. Thanks to all the schools and kids, some great baseball.
PLEASE!!! | 3:55 p.m. May 19, 2008
Please stop! This kind of talk is really ridiculous. The fact of the matter is Judge won the 3A State Championship game. It does not matter who they played, who pitched, what errors were committed, blah blah blah. They were the best in 3A this year, that's all. To keep comparing the team to 4A or 5A teams is a mute point. Why does everyone feel the need to give excuses and reasons why they won? Can we not just say Congratulations on a good year and leave it at that? I bet the baseball players themselves feel this way. They are the ones out there everyday playing and they know the games better than we do. I would venture to say that most of these comments come from disgruntled "fans" and parents. Please, let the players play and let the results speak for themselves. We all sound like a bunch of idiots discussing the games like it really matters in the big picture. Isn't it enough that our children love the game and want to play to represent our schools. Let's take a lesson from our kids and grow up!
Observation | 4:06 p.m. May 19, 2008
Isn't it ironic that Judge, Juan Diego, and Cottonwood will all end up at the top of their classifications in baseball. I bet you don't know what they all have in common?
Anonymous | 4:11 p.m. May 19, 2008
It was actually a Juan Diego parent who said 'one of the top two or three in the state' not a Judge fan. And Judge hasn't had their baseball banquet yet; the season just ended. Oh, and by the way Logan fan? Judge will enjoy the second place football trophy - they earned it.
To Oh My | 6:00 p.m. May 19, 2008
Perfectly stated. Congrats to all participants in all classifications. And in response to Observation: Let me guess as to what they have in common... Your child is not getting a fine high school education at any of the aforementioned schools ?? Hmmmm.
re: observation | 7:28 p.m. May 19, 2008
you know what'd ironic as well? when sore losers get on and bash on the teams that do good just to make themselves feel better about losing...oh wait that's normal, nevermind.
player | 8:00 p.m. May 19, 2008
give me a break we just won the state championship sorry we cant just go up and play 4a and 5a its not our fault we won what uhsaa gave us! why is everyone trying to bring my teammates and I down?
judge player | 8:58 p.m. May 19, 2008
this is ridiculous how all of you parents get on and try to bring down the credit that a high school team earned. all we can do is play the teams that the state lets us, they cant and wont mix us in a tournament wiht any cottonwoods, spanish fork, or binghams. who knows how that would turn out, any team can beat another on any given day i can tell you it would be a great tourny they are all good teams but get off our backs and let us enjoy our state championship that we earned, take losing like a good sport and quit crying, judge is the 3A state champs
RE Judge Player | 9:27 p.m. May 19, 2008
We would love to let you enjoy your state championship and I think we have all got on here and congratulated Judge, but it is you, your other players and Judge Fans that have to stir up all the mess all the time. Oh you are the almighty team and you could beat anyone and you are the best in the state. That you could beat any 4A or 5A team, blah blah blah.. That you should be ranked higher than 6th in the state, that your batting line up is deep from lead off to 9th, blah blah blah. It is you Judge people that are putting a damper on your championship no one else and no one else is poor losers, you are poor winners. So if you would quit getting on here a making ridiculous statements, then everyone would let you enjoy your state championship. Quit bragging it doesn't go well with people and it doesn't make your school look good at all. Also no one is crying that they didn't win the State Championship, we are all proud of our teams in how far they went in state. So please get over yourself.
to RE Judge Player | 9:47 p.m. May 19, 2008
I don't recall seeing a Judge player get on these blogs bragging they are the best and thinking they could beat anyone. The two previous players stated they just wanted to enjoy what they earned. Is that bragging? I also don't think they are poor winners. They haven't had a chance to enjoy it!! I'm almost ashamed I read this stuff, but it is funny how petty and ignorant people are when it comes to high school sports.
To Logan Griz... | 9:56 p.m. May 19, 2008
if i'm not mistaken judge won more state title this weekend alone than you did all year and we're enjoying every minute of it!!!
Anonymous | 10:01 p.m. May 19, 2008
To the "RE Judge Player | 9:27 p.m. poster": As someone else stated, it wasn't a Judge fan or a Judge player, but a Juan Diego parent who said 'one of the top two or three in the state.' No blah, blah, blah from Judge folks.
Re to re Judge Player | 10:06 p.m. May 19, 2008
The only ones petty and have been bragging are all Judge people go through all the comments on this page and all the comments on the High School top 20 list and see how much Judge Fans and players brag and go on and on how almighty their team is, blah blah blah that is all we have heard from Judge this year. Wow it is amazing, you can get on here and be ashamed to read what someone has said about Judge and have the nerve to make a comment like how petty and ignorant people are when it comes to high school sports. Judge people are the ones that have been petty and ignorant about other teams, not the other way around. Come on leave it alone and we will all let you enjoy your state championship, but win with pride not bragging, it doesn't go over well. It makes your school look bad. Be good sports like the rest of the 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A teams that made it to the state playoffs, you don't see them on here saying they are the almighty and could beat anyone and have the best line up, blah blah
Re to Logan Griz... | 10:09 p.m. May 19, 2008
See Judge fans their you go again bragging on how many state titles you won this weekend and putting down Logan, wow who is petty and ignorant when it comes to high school sports. Wow I think everyone would agree with me and I have made my point... GET OVER IT JUDGE, GET OVER IT...... QUIT BRAGGING..... QUIT BRAGGING.... IT DOES NOT MAKE YOUR PLAYERS OR SCHOOL LOOK GOOD.... IT GIVES YOUR SCHOOL A BAD REPUTATION.... GET OVER YOURSELVES.....
impartial | 11:22 p.m. May 19, 2008
Let me just say I don't even have a kid playing high school ball, but if I did, I would be embarrassed to say so because of all the negativity I have read here in this blog. Take a minute and really think about what you are saying. This is really ridiculous and out of control. It's just baseball. A bat and a ball. Check yourselves.
Re: to re Logan Griz | 6:09 a.m. May 20, 2008
Perhaps you missed the post from Logan on Sunday at 6:30 pm rubbing football in out faces. Don’t write thing like that and expect us to remain quietly docile, we will come back at you, we are BULLDOGS after all. Oh and by the way, it ain’t bragging if it’s true.
RE: Logan Griz | 10:58 a.m. May 20, 2008
I'm sorry that that is the only title that Logan won this year and Judge ran away with the Sports School of the Year AGAIN! And so you know the Judge football team is totally reloaded and cant wait for another shot to demolish Manning Ballam and everybody else
WOW | 11:21 a.m. May 20, 2008

Sunday Comics. Keep it comming.
Win with class | 11:55 a.m. May 20, 2008
Win with class, shut your mouth and win with class, the party is over in a year or so, so just hold your head high enjoy every minute of the State Title because they are hard to come by, you had a great team this year, and most of all WIN WITH CLASS.
