One big problem is that EnergySolution's foes' arguments aren't backed up by facts. It can't be proven that nuclear waste is a danger to anyone as long as it's handled properly.

Science will agree that nuclear waste is low risk IF it is handled properly. The problem is that there is so much incompetence in the nuclear profession that even those who file legitimate and substantiated safety complaints to the approprate federal regulatory agencies are harmed professionally. Just read the national news over the last years. Nuclear is the now and future. It has to be handled expertly. The profession needs to weed the incompetent people out. Secondly, let foreign countries store their own.
