David deserves to be the next American Idol. His talent, personality, charming looks and most of all, his resilience and tenacity, despite of all unfair publicity, has shown he can rise above everyone else. His great promising future will only benefit AI and the whole American music industry endeavor. Go David !!

Good luck to this young man, he is very deserving and I hope he wins.

I don't believe the final results this Wednesday night will effect David's career. He's already "won" based on the fact that both Davids are and will continue to be uniquely different in their style and musical direction. Their careers won't compete against each other after Idol. Like Clay Aiken in years before, coming in second won't matter.

Best of luck to a young man that deserves it. No matter if you are Number one or Number two, you will go far. Think broadway! A record deal! You will realize your dreams, but always remember to be true to yourself. Your talent has been discovered world wide. Again, good luck!

So deserving and so talented...it has been our pleasure to watch you on american idol and hopefully for years to come.

He is gifted, and that is why he has achieved this success. Go David!

He's my idol. He's someone I would allow my children to look up to.
Stay true to who you are David. We will always love you.

Why is it that these stories inevitably perpetuate the myth that David Archuleta is where he is by virtue of his gifts alone?
Dude is gifted, but he's put in thousands of hours of practice and training.
It's the same recipe for excellence in any endeavor; God-given gifts and practice, practice, practice.

I dont think he will win american Idol. He is very talented dont get me wrong but honestly I would not run out the day he puts his first album out. His song choices are horrible. the other david has a much higher success in winning.. Its cool and all he is from utah but people are playing way to much into the whole "David from murray"
Sarah W. | 3:53 p.m. May 18, 2008
I think that David will defenitaly win. I am 11 years old, and I want someone to look up to. I want someone who is a good person too. Look at Britney Spears. She was a rome model, then turned out to be a nobody. I think David Archuleta will never go to Jail, do illegal drugs, do bad things, marry someone and cheat on them, and I hope that he will turn out to still be a good kid, even though he will be famous. I am hoping that he will go on a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a member, and I think that he would be a wonderful example to go on a mission. I think that he will win and have a good career, or that is what I hope will happen. He is a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, and I want to look up to him.

I had no intention of making a comment BUT the comments of Mr./Ms. "anonymous (no guts) was just to much to pass up. I am sure that Mr. Archulets is gravely concerned that your not going to run out and by one of his recordings. Remember, it's just your opinion in terms of how he sounds, his song selections etc..AND you have every right to that opinion..BUT...it certainly is not the opinion of millions of people. Mr. Cook is a very talented young man and deserves all the accolades coming his way. The two Davids styles and voices couldn't be more different. Because I do know a bit about the mechanics of the human voice I predict that David A. will be singing long after Mr. Cook's has worn out. But, that's just an opinion. I sense that alot of the negative commentary is driven by good old fashion envy.

I hope that people realize that David A may come in 2nd, please don't be sad about that, it sometimes is the better spot. David A has touched many hearts and he will succeed, he is a winner today, be it first or second. I hope that people will not be sad if he doesn't win, if he does, then good for him, but 2nd on this show is not a losing spot. I hope the best for David A this week as he performs and into the future.

It is a pleasure to watch David perform. I and my family will vote for him. Good luck and keep up the hard work.
David isn't an Idol, people | 8:07 p.m. May 18, 2008
Get lives, people. David Archulets is just some no-name kid from a small Utah town who can sing fairly well. He ISN'T a musical genius by any stretch, he ISN'T 'gifted'- he's just a kid who can sing fairly well. He won't have a big career, he isn't that talented. He will come home and be a local celebrity for the summer and then fade from memory. He isn't a hero, he doesn't save lives or risk his own, he's just some no-name kid from a small town on a stupid show American Idol. It's a joke for anyone who isn't a pre-teen. Grow a brain.
To: David isn't and Idol | 8:36 p.m. May 18, 2008
Get Lives huh? Your probably the kind of person who sees his reflection in a pond, thinks hes drowning, and jumps in to save himself!!! David is very gifted! Thats why MOST OF AMERICA VOTES FOR HIM!!!!!
Why cant you be happy for the kid, instead of being stupid, and making comments that make people think your dumb!!!!
Um.........Get a life!!

Re: David no Idol | 8:51 p.m. May 18, 2008
EXACTLY and thank you.
These people think the Osmonds were the Beatles.
Most of America votes for him?? Most of America doesn't even watch American Idol! Its a stupid show.
If a kid sings at he Gateway these crazies think he has a gift- maybe it's due to them not having any real culture in Utah? This isn't Seattle or San Francisco or Chicago so you will have to forgive the ignorance. You had it RIGHT. I'm a student at the U and NOBODY watches this stupid show.

David WHO? | 8:56 p.m. May 18, 2008
I agree, he may be a nice guy and he's a local boy but he's no great talent. Probably a nice kid, but no great talent. Outside of Utah nobody even cares- if you really support him, give him a job singing at your restaurant. He'll need it.

David A. has an amazing voice, true pitch, wide range, and he is definitely talented. He is a winner in many ways. He sings from his heart, has an incredible smile, and puts his whole heart and soul into his performances. Go David! You deserve to be number 1--you are number 1 in millions of people's minds--make it come true with your powerful voice. Our family and friends are voting for you!!
no talent? | 11:28 p.m. May 18, 2008
I dare the non-David fans who claim he has no talent to blow my socks off, in a closed room of 20 people, while singing perfect pitch with such a range of vocals and emotion at the young age of 15 that you make me cry the first time I hear you. THAT is what David did for me two years ago! I told everyone I knew in the world to pay attention to this years AI trying to increase his fan base because HE's an AWESOME performer and MOST of his songs I have loved. I love David Cook's songs too. They are totally different genre's of music, but you David A haters probably have no appreciation for his style, unlike at least half of the millions who watch AI. He will be the next Josh Grobin and I've been saying it since I first met him two years ago. David is where he's at on AI for #1 HIS INCREDIBLE VOICE #2 HIS Adorable looks #3 His beautiful spirit of humility and love. Though you mock him, he has joy because he recieves letters daily telling of lives he's positively touched with his music...can you say that?

We have enjoyed his wonderful music style and rich singing and piano abilities. He is positively entrancing! His smile and personality delight us, too. It is understandable why he is so adored. Fun to listen and to watch you, David! We will definitely go buy CDs. We already have our tickets for the A.I. show this summer.

To: [David isn't "and" idol from the U (I suppose that is the University of Utah)]
You are showing your true "gift" and it isn't impressive to any of us.
I am from Seattle and the hype here isn't for a singer at "he Gateway" (whatever that is); our hype is for a young man that has an exceptional talent, whether through genetics or plain hard work. Our hype is for a young man that professionals recognize as phenomenal, and young people recognize as honest, humble and worth watching. Does your comment smack of jealousy or just plain ignorance when it comes to anywhere other than your own Utah? We see and are cheering for a great young man that will, by far, out reach your expectations.

It doesn't surprise me that some people are anti-David A., but I'll speculate that deep down it's about much more than his talent.
To those anti-David A. people from Utah (and anywhere else, really), I just wanted to quickly point out that my wife and I are 30 years old and live in Maryland (close to 2,000 miles from the Gateway Mall -- far from Utah, I'd say) and are huge David A. fans. So much for the theory that only teens and pre-teens that gathered at The Gateway Mall in SLC are his only fans.

I've loved David Archuleta from week 1 and whether he wins or not, I will be looking to buy his first album as soon as it reaches UK shops. I like David Cook too, but he sounds similar to lots of others: David A has his unique sound and if you close your eyes, you immediately know his distinctive voice. Wishing you luck - we don't get to see final until Friday so anyone out there, please give an extra vote for me for DAVID A.
Patrick | 10:44 a.m. May 19, 2008
I knew David and his family when they lived in Sandy. Jeff (the dad) was always telling me his little boy had a wonderful voice but, at first, I passed that off as the ravings of a proud father. But I was really converted to David when, as a 12 year old, he sang God Bless America is our church meeting house. That was truly an incredible experience for me and things have gone up hill since then. I wish him well.
Bad mood or jealous | 2:51 p.m. May 19, 2008
Some of these posts are coming from people in a bad mood or that are jealous. David A. seems like a nice kid and is doing something he loves. What's the point of putting that down?
Ever met someone who can stand to be around happy people? Did that person really write "grow a brain"?
Thanks for the laugh.

We support David !! | 4:43 p.m. May 19, 2008
David has shown great sportsmanship, growth, excellence, and genuine happiness in his American Idol experience. I wish the best for him in his career. My only concern for him is that now that he has struck fame, a genuine relationship with future friends and girlfriends may not be so real. It may also be hard to live with privacy, which could be frustrating and full of many challenges. He is still young and needs a good support system while he matures more and hopefully completes college. DAVID WE CARE FOR YOU!! You have our vote! :0)

David Archuleta will have a great career.
He should know that the great Frank Sinatra when he started out lost on the main talent show of its day in the 1930's called "The Major Bowes Amateur Hour."

David Archuleta's an INCREDIBLY talented young man who'll set the world of music on fire! His voice is pure MAGIC--exquisite, soaring, passionate. Plus, he has a rare musicality. He reinterprets a song depending on his feelings and does it extraordinarily well.
Here's how one musician put it:
"You'll notice that the improvised lines are very different from the other link (comparing live and studio versions). David is doing that on the fly—his melodic instinct guiding him through those phrases. That's his gift."
"It's like watching a cat spinning in midair to land on its feet every time. It seems like he just can't fail to glide into the perfect landing on those phrases, and they're different every time. This is what David does without thinking."
"David has a beautiful, smoky pop voice, but also the musical sophistication of a good jazz singer. His virtuosity makes him like a musical gyroscope, he'll tilt this way in one session, another way in the next, but it always comes out exactly right."
"When David is allowed free reign over his own artistic choices, he'll be in a class of his own. He's the genius of the group, no doubt about it."
Go, David!

I think the haters and negative people that seem to feel so superior should go do something constructive in the world instead of wasting their time trying to rip on people. Talk about needing to get a life and grow a brain. Take your own advice.
Kika | 8:32 a.m. July 22, 2008
David is definitely is an idol.....he's got the talent alright....and he's definitely never going to bore me at least....cause he's got the pureness in his voice that makes me never get tired of listening to him singing.... ^-^

I think he's good, but everyone at my school thinks he should visit Mississippi.
