Wonderful! The rich and the powerful get to hobknob with the President. What about the rest of us serfs?
And people wonder what's wrong with our political system.

What? | 6:04 a.m. May 20, 2008
If they paid me to attend I wouldn't go listen to Mr. Bush spew his nonsense. I would like to listen to Mitt but I wouldn’t pay $1.00 to be in the same room as Jorge Bush.
I wish I could!!!!! | 6:15 a.m. May 20, 2008
Yep, that's right, I wish I could go see these 2 good men together at one time. I like 'em both and I respect 'em both! I would love nothing more than to be able to go to some event and see these two.

Hey, I thought the intent is that individuals could only give a candidate $2,000. This stinks...
Josh Tan | 7:09 a.m. May 20, 2008
Funny how politicians can turn against one person and turn to the same person when they need him the most. America has three candidates; McCain who's in every way like Bush - reasoning skills included, Hillary whose husband's strong economic and foreign policies have been forever flushed down the toilet because of his womanizing and his thus working agianst her and Obama who is nothing but an excellent speaker.
America lost this one big chance for a complete turn-around when Mormon critics turned against Romney. Too bad, it would have been an opporutnity to gain the world's respect and for economic recovery. Bad, Bad, move

Let's see, the Huntsmans are worth billions, Mitt is worth a quarter of a billion, and John McCain's wife's family is wealthy beyond all dreams. Yea, we better hurry up and give them them some more cash. Oh, that's right if I mention how rich they are I'm guilty of "class warfare"!
Roger | 7:33 a.m. May 20, 2008
Great Job Mr. President. President Bush brought integrity back to the White House. He didn't bring disgrace like the former president. He has been an inspiration to America. Good job, keep up the good work Mr. President.

I'd like to hang out with Mitt but NOT if the money is going to benefit McCain.

We've already had 16 years of Bushes and Clintons. And where are we at as a country? At war, in debt, and in a long recession. McCain is just more of the same. I'm taking my money elsewhere.

You do realize they are talking about President George W. Bush, right? The president of the US, right now? Because if you do, then your post really doesn't make much sense.
I've never been more ashamed of a president, and you are living in fantasy land...

T. Boone Pickens the BILLIONAIR OIL TYCOON is investing in wind power here are some qoutes.
“It will be located in [the] central part of the United States, which will be the best from a safety standpoint to be located. You have a wind corridor that goes from Pampa, Texas, to the Canadian border”
“Then you have a solar corridor that goes from Sweetwater, Texas, west to the West coast, and that solar corridor can also be developed.”
“BUT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN AMERICA. YOU CAN’T KEEP PAYING OUT $600 BILLION A YEAR FOR OIL.”
Strange how everyday people and World Renowned Businessmen, and Oil Executives (Shells CEO) REALIZE AFFORDABLE SUSTAINABLE OIL IS A THING OF THE PAST, but our elected officials (not referred to as LEADERS) cannot!
WRITE YOUR SENATOR AND CONGRESSMAN – DEMAND NEW LEGISLATION ENDING THE OIL BASED ECONOMY!

Even if you agree with the Bush policies, any honest evaluation must come to the same conclusion - abject failure to lead.

Although I hope someone can report on whether Mittens uses this opportunity to give W tips on interior decoration for his post-presidential hideaway in Paraguay.

Nice way around the federal campaign funding limitations. Typical Republicans. You could not pay me to be in the same room with President Bush. He has made a mockery of our country and our Constitution, not to mention the English language. With the blood he has on his hands, how does he sleep at night?
Valerie | 9:44 a.m. May 20, 2008
How does it help our system for these men to hang out with their rich friends? Why not hang out with "the people"? If George Washington knew how much money was being spent to meet the President, he would roll over in his grave. How can we change Washington if ordinary people never have a chance to meet those in power?
I generally side with the Republicans and would vote for Romney if I had the chance, but I am not voting for McCain.

These things are a great "investment" for the people who participate. They will get together to see which industries should get rewarded and they will all buy stock in those few companies. Look at the history. Reagan became president and GE came out of nowhere to be the most profitable company in the US (for those of you who have forgotten, Reagan worked for GE for 25 years.) Next, Clinton became president and Walmart became the biggest company in the world. Now it is the Bush oil companies. The price tag for this dinner is pretty small for the rate of return that it will generate...even if McCain loses. Because there is always 2012.
ST. GEORGE | 9:50 a.m. May 20, 2008
The $8 Billion per month spent on the Iraq war to keep OPEC oil on the world market, could be spent at home building clean alternative renewable energy plants-----A LOT OF THEM.

Hanging out with the worst American president this country has ever seen.
A dream come true!

Bush has been an excellent president. Anyone who understands the US Constitution, knows that the president does not do anything by himself. People need to wake up and realize that the House and the Senate have a HUGE part in what has been happening in our country. The president is not an island. As far as the war in Iraq, are we not our brothers' keepers? We have saved many lives. Just ask our soldiers.
Anonymous | 10:04 a.m. May 20, 2008
Bush is the prime example of how Republicans believe then can do anything.
Anything!

That's what "hanging out" with Bush is worth.
The man is a complete moron and has driven our country into the ground. I'm always surprised that more Utahans don't see what is painfully obvious to ALL of us--Republicans and Democrats alike.

I would say "$96 Billion should build between 100 and 140 alternative energy plants, thats 50,000 megawatts and would power about 12 million homes, for free!

So $96 Billion per year for 3 or 4 years and we have built 150,000 to 200,000 megawatts of clean alternative renewable energy capcity in our Nation, 36 to 48 million homes powered for free?
Why do we subsidize the oil based economy?

Oh I forgot the repairs and maintenance costs along with daily operational costs ---- I stand corrected!

I guess they found a loophole around how much the super rich can donate to a campaign fund. This stinks and it will continue to develop additional stink.
RE: St. George | 11:02 a.m. May 20, 2008
Good Points
48 Million homes with free power---WOW that is 41% of the 115.9 million homes according to the 2000 Census.
Lets see continue to feed the beast and keep OPEC oil flowing to the World Market, so all the World benefits or
Spend the $8 Billion per month for the next 4 years and provide enough power for 41% of the homes in the USA?
Watcha thing W? Isn’t this more important than Big Oil Profits?

That "worst" president has kept you and your family safe against nations who have vowed to destroy our nation and culture. They will never stop trying. He also destroyed a ruthless dictator and his government. If you think he is bad, wait until one of your little democrat presidents is in, one who vows to send home each troop home so the American haters can re-group and re-plan to try to destroy our country. I've studied radical Islam for years, and their #1 goal is to destroy America. Think again before you criticize the very man who is making you safe so you can live your life.

The Truth | 11:42 a.m. May 20, 2008
If I met Bush, I'd ask him to tell me the truth. Just between he and I. Because he can't possibly believe all the lies he's told over the years, can he?
I am amazed that anyone can support Bush with all the horrible things he's done to our country and Iraq. Not only has he caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis- at least- but he has made our country a more dangerous place going forward. The way he lied to justify destroying and occupying a country that did not attack us has created many more people in the middle east that hate us, and some day down the road, when George is on his ranch, one of them just may attack us. All because of George's actions. And some people support this guy? Unbelievable.
Then again, everyone can't have good ethical and moral values.

No, no re: anonymous 11:17 -
The worst president had made our country and the world a very dangerous place to be.
And Bush, Cheney, Karl Rove and Rush O'Hannity have managed to split this country in two like never before.
The best thing America has seen in 8 years is a ballot without the name George W. Bush on it.
But John McBush is ready to put us an even MORE dangerous spot both politically and economically.

re:re: Anonymous | 12:20 p.m. May 20, 2008
Bush is making us safe? How exactly is he doing that? He hasn't found Bin Ladin. Al Qaida is as strong as ever, and getting stronger all the time because of our presence in Iraq. He hasn't finished the job in Afghanistan. How has destroying Iraq, a country that has done us no harm, make us safer? Even Iran is stronger since Bush has been in office. What has he done other than put us in debt, destroy the economy, trample all over the constitution by spying on us, torture people, ruin whatever reputation we had in the world, and start an unnecessary war?
SAFE!!! | 12:25 p.m. May 20, 2008

False Sense of Safety | 12:33 p.m. May 20, 2008
I'm sorry, but you think BUSH is keeping us safe from terrorists? Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it under his reign that the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were attacked? Of the many Bush-related emotions I've had in the last eight years, a feeling of safety is not one of them.
