What's wrong with this excerpt from this article?: "Logan's Seth Wold flew down the course with an impressive time of 2:27:43 to claim the overall victory. The 24-year-old averaged 5:38 miles and actually saw his pace improve over the second half of the marathon, which took runners from a start line in the Ogden Valley near Eden. After reaching the midpoint in 1:13:20 with a 5:31 pace, Wold cranked it up over the final eight miles, running an average of 5:11 to pull away from Provo's Alexander Pachev."

If Wold reached the midpoint in 1:13:20 but finished in 2:27:43, then it is inaccurate to write that he improved his pace over the second half of the marathon. If he had improved his pace over the second half, he would have finished faster than 2:26:40. So even though he averaged 5:11 per mile for the last 8 miles, which is very impressive, his overall pace for the second half of the race was slower than his overall pace in the first half of the race. It's a great showing, but the description in the article is a bit short on math accuracy.
