to see in a DN article the following admission: "...especially after learning there are several accounts of Joseph Smith's First Vision." Wow--maybe there's hope for them yet.

Dear I'm surprised, oh please, I'm so tired of bigoted comments like yours. There are many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who, like me, are well aware that there are multiple versions of the First Vision story and for whom such a reality causes no particular crisis of faith. But, thanks for playing.

The majority of members of the LDS church are well aware of the different versions of the First Vision, and it doesn't bother us in the slightest. Do you know why? Because he was speaking to different audiences and highlighted different aspects accordingly. I don't have a testimony because of Brother Joseph's WORDS, I have a testimony because of his WORKS. Regardless of how many times he told the story, and regardless of whatever minor differences there may be, I have a firm testimony that the Book of Mormon is true, and that Joseph was a prophet of God. Nothing can change my mind about that, because I have received confirmation that this is true. If our testimonies are shaken by the admission of different accounts, then perhaps we didn't really have a firm testimony to begin with.

I wish people would stop trying to stir up controversy where none exists, and stop criticizing every single thing the LDS church does. Don't you guys have better things to do with your time?

cont.

Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide. I am truly not a 'Mormon' basher, but I have reason to be interested and it bothers me immensely that members seem determined (at least some anyway) to ignore what is out there and if I were a member of the church I believe it would bother me, a lot.

And, I can imagine that all of this would make teaching the churches history a difficult process.

Thanks
