It is always fun to read your analysis, but remember, Nixon had two Mormons in his cabinet and it wasn't a big deal: David Kennedy from Illinois, and Mitt's dad George Romney from Michigan. I think religion of cabinet members matters to the religious right much, much less than prez or veep.

I have never seen anyone want to be president quite as badly as Mitt Romney.

Orion, this is Hillary. Hillary, this is Orion. You two need to get to know each other.

Mitt's got to win soon. His looks will be shot in just a few more years and then there won't be any reason to vote for him.

Mitt is absolutely the best choice as veep. The economy is a huge issue right now and will continue to be in the general election. Mitt has the experience needed to bolster McCain in this area.
Who would seriously want him? | 1:24 p.m. June 1, 2008
McCain is a disaster. Mitt is a disaster. The two of them together would be an unmitigated disaster. This country deserves better than to have EITHER of them in, or close to, the White House.

TO DOGGIE: Ruff, ruff.
You have no idea what my leanings are.

The same could be said for marxist-leninist obama and socialist hillary. Both of which are just two more washingtonian politicians.
If you want "real" change then you must vote for a third party.
That it the only way to send a message of "change" to the two big parties.
I tell ya, Bob Barr and the libertarian party is looking really good now.

Mitt is by far the best choice. I would vote for him in a heart beat. If he is asked to run with McCain as vp, I would gladly call, serve, etc to see that happen because America needs this good man very badly.
If however McCain does not feel the need to ask Mitt, I shall perhaps write him in unless Mitt somehow invites me to do otherwise and convinces me to vote for McCain... otherwise, I have no one to vote for. Also, for me, alot depends on who McCain chooses if he does not pick Mitt. I don't like too many of his other choices... Mitt is it for me.

Amen to Indiana's comment. I won't vote for McCain without Mitt, and it'd take Mitt to convince me (and a whole lot of sound logic that I'm currently not familiar with) to vote for McCain.
Whatever McCain does, if he wants even a chance against Obama, he'd better choose a VP quickly and then work to unite the GOP. No matter who McCain chooses, there's going to be a lot of upset people who feel left out. I've never seen such strong feelings in an election... If Huckabee is chosen, McCain will lose Mormon money and votes after Huckabee's anti-Mormon comments this year. Likewise, if Romney is chosen, McCain will lose Huckabee supporters who are too bigoted and ignorant to support a Mormon...
We brag about how "united" the GOP party is, but it's not true. The Demo's will unite under the "anti-Bush" banner and unless Mormons and evangelicals can join together, Obama will soon be the chosen leader of the free world.

My family has known Mitt and Ann Romney for over 40 years. I would vote for him because I know him without the media bias that others on this post seems to have accepted. Wheather Romney becomes the running mate of McCain or not, he should be a major contender in 2012 if he chooses to run for office.
I have no doubts that Mitt Romney will keep his name and his political activities in the press through to the 2012 election cycle. It should provide extensive momentum that could be hard for any potential candidate to get control of.
