Good for him | 8:46 p.m. June 3, 2008
I am proud of the young man, but it is a tragedy to waste his athletic talent on such a weak sport. Maybe he can become at least a football kicker or something useful. Any game that can end "zero to zero and that's final" should not be played in this great country of ours.

Good for him ,

"I am proud of the young man" but yet try discrediting the sport that this "young man" loves? well lets hope that he ends up in another country playing this game when he returns from his mormon mission

Congratulations Cookie on your award, a great season, your mission call and high school graduation. Thanks for being a leader and good influence on your team (including my son, who needs all the help he can get). Good luck in the future, and give it all you've got with skydiving, the Hawaii tournament, prepping for an awesome experience in Korea, college, your future wife and your little cookie crumbs, etc.

Like it or not Soccer is the most popular sport on earth. And like it or not it's here to stay "In this great country of ours". Get out of your cave and look around.

Great job Cookie! Way to go. As a father of a Brighton High player and a competitor on another club team I've watched you for several years. Yes, your skills are remarkable and I noticed that your team played according to how you played. I was always nervous when you got the ball down deep and was very impressed with your precision passing skills, but most of all I was impressed with your interaction with all the players of the other teams after the game. Great sportsmanship and friendship. Good luck on your mission and your future life.

Well done lad. Represents his school, his team, his religion, the sport, and his family with class.

May others follow in your footsteps.
Mr. Spunk award aswell | 11:16 p.m. June 3, 2008
That kids got alot of spunk. its rare to find that these days.. i like that. He's very playful and charismatic on the field. plays hard but doesnt take anything too seriously. He teases his own players when they make mistakes and makes fun of himself when he makes mistakes aswell. fun to watch

You're right. Soccer is here to stay. And it will stay with the same popularity that it has had for the last 50 years. It's seen minor spikes, but overall it hasn't changed. Soccer fan will continue to try to shove it down America's throat, and the vast majority of Americans will continue to spit it out. In fact, a soccer game kind of represents the history of soccer in the U.S. Lot's of back-and-forth movement, but in the end little progress, if any, has been made (such as typical game ending in a 0-0 or 1-0 score).

"Lot's of back-and-forth movement, but in the end little progress....") Sounds a lot like baseball as well. Just like baseball, soccer depends a very good defense. Soccer has continued action, great plays (offense and defense) and a quick fast paced game.
