Walking to Church..and Elsewhere | 3:32 p.m. July 5, 2008
I loved this. We have family members who live in a small(er) town and they walk to Church. We walk with them when we visit. What a wonderful experience these children are having to participate with neighbors and family in this way.

These children are also able to play "night games," a passtime that isn't safe in most places today.

Somehow, walking somewhere gets one more connected with the neighborhood, with those walked with, and with the walking destination.

I belong to a walking group. I have walked in Europe and in Mexico. My senses were filled as they are when I walk to church with family members.

Perhaps walking more and riding less, mandated by high gasoline prices, will have the benefit of rediscovering lost connections.
