Serenity wasn't too bad a finish to Firefly...but in general I agree with your points

Yes yes yes to an Arrested Development movie! In principle there's always the risk something is lost in translation, but I think AD could adapt very well, and if exceeds expectations it could instantly be the comedy film of the year. Easily.
I'm really excited for this. So many people know of the show nowadays (which was NOT well promoted by Fox - they kicked it all over the schedule and the ad's made it seem a 'zany' comedy) that it might be a surprise hit.
Apart from that, I am in full agreement TV to movie is not always a sensible choice. But again AD's the exception!

If it is something done by FOX then undoubtably it will be done wrong...*cough* Firefly *cough*. Serenity was an ok movie, it is held up as a great cinematic achievement by us Browncoats simply because the TV show was butchered by FOX like so many other promising shows. Thank goodness Family Guy is back...
AD has the potential to be a good movie...but a greater potential to be a train-wreck of the highest magnitude. The TV show was great but the movie would be there to resolve things...maybe that will be enought

I was one of the many viewers that didn't warm up to Arrested Development and I doubt I would watch a movie of it. It's hard enough to make a movie from a successful TV show. Why would they want to make one of a failure?

Probably a horrible idea, as much of the TV show's audience won't watch it. It aired on FOX with scripted bleeps that were part of the comedy. A movie would surely get rid of the bleeps and have the words, which would be much less funny and surely result in an R rating. Since this was on FOX and not HBO, an R rating would alienate many who loved the series in the first place and thought the bleeps were the best part.
This is only a good idea if they find a way to make it a PG-13, but that is very unlikely.

Arrested Development is on of the funniest shows of this decade and sadly its run prematurely. I for one would love to see more, whether theatrical release or TV movie. Jason Bateman and Will Arnett are great actors and i think they should attempt to pull off a movie.
