We decide whether we will get stressed out. Look at this as a opprotunity to relax a liitle.

...Or maybe people can leave their conversations to the privacy of their own homes instead of invading everyone else's privacy with their inane, LOUD conversations.

Forget talking in a business, I am more worried that I will be run over by one of these driving with their mouth on and brain off drivers.

The assasins of good manners.
If your in line ahead of me and are talking on the phone instead of taking care of business, I have ZERO problem in telling you to get it in gear or get out of line. And Heaven help you if your phone rings during a movie or a play.

If you're in line and the person ahead of you is delaying things by being on the phone, why not go ahead and move ahead? The person at the counter doesn't care who they serve - they just want to serve someone.

Common courtesy ought to prevent such behavior.
The most annoying thing about cell phones users is that they tend to speak much louder when using them than they do in conversations without them or when talking on home phones. Why this is the case, I don't know, but it seems to be the norm.

It seems to me that cell phones are now a fashion accessory - a status symbol.
If you don't have a phone to your ear in the store, the gym, the restaurant or wherever. you're just not cool. It's a joke!!

I see a woman every day walking to her destination talking away oblivious to traffic and others surrounding her. I appreciate signs in business places that say we will help you when you end your phone conversation. It is a Sad day when we actually have to hang that sign up for people to realize they are being rude. I have told my friends with cell phones (since I do not have one) When you are with me that Phone is off and you will not answer it or acknowledge it while we are together. I demand respect and I get it.

For the courtesy of the people I help at the bank I wish I had some sort of 5 foot phone jammer. Especially in the drive up window where daily cell phone people will hold up the line for 5 minutes, leave behind their ID or cash, or speed off nearly sideswiping the bank equipment.
As far as the first post though "We decide whether we will get stressed out. Look at this as a opprotunity to relax a liitle." - ?
I do despite the frustration people holding up the line must feel. I've taken the opportunity to write this post and browse DN news while some guy holds up the line with a buisness call on his cell.

Believe me and my fellow Americans when I say that we have no interest in your phone conversations, and would appreciate it if you would speak softly or move to an isolated area when on your phone, if you don't understand what I am trying to say, you are being incredably rude and obnoxious when blabing loudly in public. I have often felt the urge to grab your phone and stomp on it. In a less than civil society, you would face a lot of criticism, and probably physical assault.

Here in California it is now illegal to drive while on the cell phone.
Another intrusive measure by government to make us safer. Although I'm still worried about getting hit by dumb drivers reading the paper or stuffing their face with fast food.

Well to the writer... how many times have you been on a phone call, and given someone at the counter the universal wait sign... I can't count the times it has happened to me, at a doctors office, car shop, etc.
It all comes around...

wow..12:09 pm... what a positive contribution. Glass half empty for you?
The writer has it spot on. What I don't understand, I even ask my wife with no real answer, is why do people feel they have to scream when they are on cell phones? 99% of the time, normal talking voice will suffice. The other 1% of the time is when more than 1 person is on the cell phone and they are trying to out due each other....

Here in California the police are using so much time enforcing cell phones that nothing else gets done. Felons seem to love it!

The bluetooth earpieces sometimes make this even worse. I think sometimes people with those gadgets get a kick out of walking up to the counter, then answering a call in the middle of the transaction. One minute their talking to you, then the next, you get the finger (shush I'm on the phone).
It's hard to know when they are talking to your or the little man talking it their ear until you get the finger indicating they're not talking to you anymore. It sometimes makes you feel about thiiis tall.
The other day I walked into a conference room for a meeting and I was the first one there (except the CEO). As I walked into the room he said, "So, your comming to the meeting"? I thought he was just trying to start small-talk until the meeting started. Little did I know that he wasn't even talking to me until I replied and got the finger. He was talking to someone else on the earpiece I couldn't see. Dooh.

Perhaps I just enjoy torturing people, but I obnoxiously persist in attempting to help someone at my desk even when they give me the "wait" finger. I work at a hotel, and if someone comes to my desk while on their phone I continue the check in process as if they were not on the phone. "Sir, can I see your ID and credit card please?" "I need you to sign here and here" I talk loudly, make normal small talk and pretend to be oblivious to the fact they are talking to someone else.
I don't care if someone is on a business call. I need to get my work done just as much as they do! I know I am annoying, but it gives me great satisfaction acting as though they are not on their cell phone until they actually hangup and listen to me.

Grow up people!! I love how people find insignificant things to complain about. Like our friends the Tongans, relax a bit! "Don't sweat the small stuff." Let's be honest, we all do it and all do it on a daily basis. Talking on a phone while accomplishing another task is not a big deal, it's all about being efficient. If my business call will bring me $$ then I will take the call regardless of where I am and what I am doing. Or if it's my wife and she's calling, she comes over the feelings of the person at the cash register or the person behind me in line. Wait a few minutes and it will be your turn!!

Remember the days when you didnt take calls till you got home, because thats where the phone was. Back when I didnt have an electronic leash on me 24/7, and didnt have to fake not being able to pick up.
It still amazes me that we still got everything done back then.

RE JUSTIN MORREY... thats fine that you do that... just know that being rude to people makes them rude back. I hope you enjoy your food next time you cut the waiter off and tell him to wait for your call to finish :)

Mr Morrey,
You must be one very selfish person. In fact, I am surprised you even have a wife to talk to on the phone! It tells a lot about someone's character that they care more about bringing in money than being a courteous and considerate member of society.
Your kharma is screwed buster!

no problem with people talking on their cell phones while standing in line wating for a table or to get into a movie theatre. The ones I have a problem with are the ones talking on their cell phones while driving or in the case of teenagers, text messaging while driving. Talk about endangering not just their own lives but others as well...
