I hope that Congressman Matheson will use his position on the Agricultural Committee to do away with the foolish practice of expending 30 gallons of gasoline to produce one gallon of ethanol. The worldwide affect on feed and food prices is devastating. Additionally, the obstructive efforts by many politicians to prevent the US from tapping its abundant energy resources is criminal and the electorate that support them will watch their jobs and way of life substantially diminished. It is a bald faced untruth to say that drilling won't help. Economics 101- supply and demand pricing is driven down by increasing supply or decreasing demand. Even the threat will lower prices. It is a fact. Let's do both and let's do it immediately!

The reason Oil Speculators CAN run up the prices is precisely because of the LACK OF ADEQUATE SUPPLY!!! Matheson's bill addresses a sympton and not a root-cause; the lack of supply! The Democrats don't want to allow votes on Drilling for Oil in ANWR or elsewhere in the U.S. because it will offend their left-wing base who want us to walk to work, live in high-density housing, and dictate all other ways for us to live such as what we wear, eat, and think. DRILL!!!!

Matheson quit blaming business. The solution is to drill hear now. Let the free market work.

If we drill our own oil the speculators will have nothing to speculate about, Mathesons proposal is like trying to stop water from running downhill.

Instead complaining about speculators and pandering for the general election three and a half months away, how about helping get oil out of shale. After all most of the oil shale in this country is in his district, the Uinta Basin.

Did Matheson come up with this idea on his own, or is he just signing on as a co-sponsor?

Can we give Matheson at least a benefit of a doubt? While it doesn't address ethanol, the need to drill, and other potential solutions, at least it's a start in the right direction to stablize oil prices.
