Al Gore. That's the defining name for hypocrisy in this generation. He smugly berates people for using more than their fair share, but lives in an enormous mansion, flies in a private jet, and rides around in monstrous limos. Conservation is for the peasants and union workers, not the elite Democrats like himself

"His solution was to do away with all carbon-emitting forms of electricity production in the United States within 10 years, replacing them with alternatives like solar, wind and geothermal power, conservation and so-called clean-coal technology in which all carbon emissions from the burning of coal are captured and stored"

That is Al Gore's statement, but its not really a solution. Keep in mind HE won't be doing any of these things. There will be no energy produced by an Al Gore company as part of this "solution". He will just make grand statements and expect everyone else to do as he says. Nothing is impossible for the person who doesn't have to do it themselves.

If we were able to harness the hot air coming out of his mouth, it would probably satisfy the power needs of at least a couple neighborhoods.

The only tactic conservatives have left is to attack the messenger, not the message. If George Bush said these same things, conservatives by and large would be all for them.

Of course, conservatives don't enjoy a monopoly on this attitude. People everywhere are more concerned with WHO is saying something, rather than WHAT they are saying. It's sad.

There will be a lot of posts here attacking Al Gore. There will not be a lot of posts talking about the problems Al Gore is addressing.

Just because Al Gore says something does not make it false. It doesn't make it true, either. But I think if anyone is honest with him/herself, he/she will see that Al Gore is talking about important things. He is right about a lot of things. He might be wrong about a lot of things. But the things he says aren't false BECAUSE he is Al Gore. That's such a juvenile position to take. People need to grow up.

Mr. Gore's claims of devastation and an end to civilization are outright lies, unsupported by any credible scientific research.

Once a politician starts out so badly, I stop listening.

He conveniently leaves out the only workable large-scale electrical alternative, nuclear power.

His plan is unworkable and unwarranted.

"Gore admitted his plan would, at least initially, drive energy prices higher. But he proposed a payroll tax cut to offset higher prices for fuel and electricity."

Who is this guy? He's been crying wolf since he got booted out of real politics eight years ago. Who is he to propose tax cuts? ANYONE could get up and say "I think we should cut taxes and use the money for something else," and they could get a Nobel prize for it. Al Gore needs to crawl back in his huge private jet and fly to an undisclosed location and stay there forever. I don't see him riding a bicycle to his speeches or putting solar panels on his mansion. Why should I? If he truly believed the world were in such a predicament as he's claiming, wouldn't he be the first to change his ways?
Five Words | 7:05 p.m. July 18, 2008
Five words for Al Gore - "Put Up Or Shut Up!!" This "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrite is only in it for what he can get out of it. Gore is the white man's Jesse Jackson!!

I agree with "Hold on..." Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

While Mr. Gore professes concern with my carbon foot-print I am concerned about his methane stain.
