I just wanted to wish Kelly well. He is one of the best officials around, fair and honest to every coach. A good official just kind of blends in vs. being the center of attention. This is Kelly!

Kelly called my son's 5A State Title game in 2004 (Hunter vs. Cottonwood). I knew going into that contest that our boys stood a 'fair' chance with Kelly officiating. I knew he was fair and I've always believed that he is 'truly' one of Utah's finest. Our boys had the distinct reputation of being hard to cheer for; however, Kelly looked past the 'side shows' and allowed our boys the fair shake they would need/deserve to claim Utah's top prize. That's all we could ask for and that's exactly what Kelly provided.

God bless Kelly in his time of need. He's always gave us his best effort and he's deserving of ours as well.

Kelly's become part of Utah's basketball landscape and I hope to see him back soon on its hardwoods.

I had the pleasure of knowing Kelly growing up in California. I always had a lot of respect and admiration for him -- especially his good sportsmanship throughout all the years our teams were whipping his La Canada squads. In fact, that's probably why he gave up playing and started reffing!

Best of luck, Kelly. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Huge kudos to Amy for getting this article published so quickly. It means a lot as Kelly's friends and fellow officials to feel the support of the community. Anyone interested in helping can donate directly to Kelly's Medical Fund at any branch of Zions Bank - just tell them it's for the Kelly Critchfield Donation account. Donations large and small are equally and deeply appreciated. For the golfers . . . if you want to play in the best scramble golf event you've ever experienced, log on to theprepfan.com - look for Kelly's picture - and click on the link to the golf event. We promise you'll never forget the experience, and you'll truly make a difference in the life of a great friend and sportsman.

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and praise. Although this is a tough sickness to battle I plan on fighting the good fight and beating this. It is through your faith and prayers that I will beat it. I have appreciated all of my officiating associations and my being able to meet all of the classy people, such as yourselves, throughout the years. Hopefully that may continue here in the near future. Also, thanks to Amy for a kind and well written article. I hope to be able to call more games and reading of her assessments of those games. Sincerely, Kelly
