I enjoyed the article but was not able to see the preview program on TV. I am a cougar fan but I really believe TCU will be a dark horse team to beat. If their QB has time to throw the ball, especially against new defenses, he will pick them apart. I watched him last year and he was very accurate and effective when he was not rushed. The difference between getting beat by TCU and beating them will be the pass rush! If we can't put pressure on TCU's QB,he will beat both BYU and Utah plus most other, if not all MWC teams. Their running game will be better this year too. Watch out for TCU! Be prepared and rush that QB!

The word is complement not compliment.
Ah, Patterson | 7:22 a.m. July 22, 2008
Gary is always fired up about something... His team may have been stellar two years ago, but was the league choker last year.

Like anybody else, talk is cheap. Win it on the field.

Maybe Gary should be fired up about how his team was picked first the last two years and ended up short.
TCU top 3 | 8:50 a.m. July 22, 2008
TCU will finish in the top 3, but it's hard to make a case for TCU being ranked, preseason, ahead of either BYU or Utah. Even when they won the championship 3 years ago, they didn't exactly steamroll through the conference. They barely beat Utah and BYU with both games being decided on controversial plays.

Pooh Pooh to the U.
Preseason Bliss... | 9:35 a.m. July 22, 2008
Here's my take: TCU won't even finish in the top three--that spots reserved for Air Force. I think the media was being generous to Gary and his Horned Frogs. By the end of this season, Gary will be all fired up about something because, well, that's what he's suppose to do. If he didn't make a big stink, he'd be a manager at some fast-food joint.

As for the MWC, the planets have returned to their proper place. Utah and BYU are once again hyped to be in battle to determine who the conference champions will be. Barring any injuries, this game between the two could/should turn out to be the most exciting game ever in their long storied history. And as much as I hate it, I give Utah the edge since it's a home game for them and BYU goes to TCU on the road also (hey, just because I said TCU will finish under 3, doesn't mean they won't be a tough/close game). As a matter of fact, I see BYU & Utah as the only two unbeaten teams in the nation and all eyes in college football nation will be tuned in. Preseason is bliss...

The one thing a would have to agree with is the media poll is worthless... a bunch of wanna be's who have no idea how good the other teams are.

Hey! We found some common ground. Can BYU fans and utes fans at least agree on this?.. Patterson is an egotistical wingnut. Lets both crush TCU, then get on with it. He's the biggest "look at me" guy I've ever heard.

To preseason bliss:

Did you forget Utah has a game at Michigan? You can forget about the undefeated season, add a BYU loss and the infamous game they loss they they shoudn't and you have another 3 loss season.

Re: Maddog, Utah has been very good OOC with several wins coming away from RES. Can you say the same for BYU?
Michigan has a distracted new coach, new coordinators, new offensive line, new qb, new wrs, holes on defense and to top it off there starting Rb just blew a .285 after he was stoped by the cops and will not play in that game.
If you ask me the Utes will be favored.

TCU will win the conference this season because the offense will benefit greatly from having a QB and lineman with experience. The defense will be good. As bad as TCU was last year (if you call 8-5 bad) they could've easily beaten Utah and BYU. They were clearly better than Air Force but allowed AF to stay around because of fumbles and INT's. Utah is not impressive to me. BYU is and it will come down to BYU and TCU. AF will finish below NM and Wyoming. Last year was a fluke.

Air Force: Was not a fluke last year, they had a bunch of senior talent and leadership. This year will be different because they lost Carney at quarterback, if he was coming back I might be able to see why you would pick them top 3 but without him. 4th at the very best, but I'm thinking more like 6th.

TCU: Gotta respect them because their offense will be much improved over last year, but several of their defensive studs are gone so I think 3rd is a respectable pick.

BYU and Utah: At the top of the preseason poll as expected, not just because they're the most hyped in the media, but because they both have loads of talent, and both had good seasons last year. And barring any unforseen blips from 3 months away, they will be duking it out for the conference championship just after thanksgiving.

Isn't there a better headline for this article without saying pooh-pooh, makes it seem as if it was written by a 3 year old.

Patterson derides the poll this year. What about the last two years when TCU was picked first? Explain that one Coach. Football is sbout doing it, not saying it.

The pre-season poles are a waste of time, money, and discussion. They are almost never correct, and mean nothing. Please stop!

I think SDSU is the dark horse this year. Their coach is doing some real good things to build leadership and maturity in his players. I don't know how far they will go, but I do expect them to have a winning season. For some reason the MWC feels like a really strong conference this year. It could be all the hype, I guess, but I feel like the majority of our teams are going to be tough. I hope everyone dominates their OOCs! Here's to a great year!
The right stuff | 8:10 a.m. July 26, 2008

GO POKES! | 4:22 p.m. July 30, 2008
As anyone else found that the biggest baby in the MWC is Gary Patterson!?!? He is so amusing. What he says is terrible, but watching him get mad on the side lines is down right hilarious!

I LOVE JOE GLEN!!!! go pokes!!!

UTAH,I'm afraid, is underrated. BYU is obviously going to be great, and TCU is so athletic. You could pick those 3 teams to be on top of the conference almost every year.
