Platt obviously doesn't visit downtown very often. None of the high rises compete for sunlight, the skyline isn't dense enough for that. It never will be if lazy developers in the burbs keep fighting to undermine the state's capital. The Proscenium should change it's name to "Sore Thumb".

Skyscrapers belong in the central business district in downtown Salt Lake City. Placing such tall buildings among the current low rise/mid rise/retail buildings will be more than a sore thumb; they will be an abomination!

The article says, "A recent traffic study confirmed hopes that the area would be great for traffic entry and exit. . ." Are they serious? Have they ever gone on or off I-15 and 10600 South during rush hour?
Traffic in this area is a mess now - and the soccer stadium isn't even finished.
I worry about planning these "experts" do without realistically addressing traffic.

As one who invests in these type of ventures, I can tell you if Salt Lake City had it act together more, they would see proposals like this there.

I think it's great. Why not??? 3 big beautiful buildings in Sandy doesn't sound bad to me. I think it would be great for the future of Salt Lake County. If we have a developer who wants to do this, then we should be happy to have another asset in our county.

If you want to talk about things that should have never been built... lets start talking about the Suncrest Development on the top of the mountains in Draper. That is an abomination. Tearing up the beautiful mountains for a private developer... which by the way ended up in bankruptcy, bad roads, and 1000's of trees and animals removed from the area. If you want to boo something than boo that. It's not like they even have good views, Salt Lake County is too freaking polluted. Why don't we work on cleaning up our air quality? All you people with big old lifted trucks that put out more exaust every time you push on the gas than I do in a whole week, you should be deported.

Boo Suncrest, Boo people with big trucks, Boo Pollution.

Just not seeing the water/mountain inspiration in this. In fact it will obscure mountain views. What is Sandy wanting to be when it grows up? Some planning on a design theme and character that FITS the COMMUNITY is needed WITH public input.

See "Gridlock" above. Current parking requirements for this development would be, 6,000 cars!

Imagine a "bad air" day, project employees leaving the Proscenium, people trying to get to their condo's, or just their homes in Sandy. More people trying to get to the soccer game, a play or a restaurant. All this occurs between 6-8 PM.

The brain trust that says traffic is no problem for this non-conforming architectual monstrosity, are the same folks who built a soccer stadium with parking a 15 minute walk away, no training facility or even a practice field. And, ooops, they need another $6-$10 million taxpayer dollars.

If the Council rubber stamps Mayor Daley's, ooop Dolan on this one too, it's time for a "New Broom" to sweep 'em out!

Dolan and his "rubber stamp" minions are at it again!

Erebus, you're concerned about air pollution? Look at the 3 Sandy On/Off ramps of I-15 during rush hours and week-ends.

Now consider what you call "beautiful buildings", that I and a host of others think of as non-conforming monstrosities. These buildings, based on experience, will require parking for 6,000 cars!

Now where's your air quality?

Sandy government paid over $72,000 taxpayer dollars to keep "Administrative Bonuses" secret from Sandy residents. Now Sandy government is holding hearings about a project that will drastically change the quality of life in Sandy. Ooops, the person to head up condo sales has already been chosen and Sandy government is still undecided? Look at the Sandy Amphitheatre program among other Sandy publications...unless the Sandy residents wake up...it's a done deal. And our Sandy home will truly become, as a past Council chair said, "Sandy City, Incorporated, a business".
