What Else Is New? | 4:19 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
Yeah, and both presumptive candidates voted for a war I don't agree with. If I were to go through the list of candidates and disqualify each of them because of a policy that conflicts with doctrine, I would be left with religious leaders and Santa Claus. It's easy to cherry-pick a reason why a politician isn't fit for the office because of "x" or "y". From my assessment, everyone running has baggage. It's just a matter of finding the one whose baggage best matches yours or mine.

I agree with "What Else is New". There are a lot of things point by point that I could find to disqualify anyone running for President. The thing I look is how much power the candidate wants to give the government. People have worried about Bush and his wire tapping taking away our freedom. They clamor about how inefficient the government runs things (ie Social Security,Medicare, etc.). With all of this, they want to turn over our health care and whatever else to that same government. I grew up during the cold war with America fighting against Communism. In my opinion, giving the government this power is Socialism. Moving closer to that Communism that, most of my live, America was fighting against.
Now why some BYU Students think this is a good idea, I think I may know. I had a discussion with a faithful, beautiful young LDS girl during Clintons campaign in '91. They look at it as giving things to help the poor. This what God wants us to do. The thing they don't realize is God does not force anyone to do this. It has to be ones own will not the governments.

Show me any quote anywhere of Sen Obama saying that abortion is "ok in his view, even after the baby is born".
Put up some facts, or quit your right-wing lies.

I'm not surprised. Academia has always been out of touch with the real world. Of course, a BYU student who pays no income tax would give no thought to the consequences of liberal ideology.
After these students spend a few years trying to earn a living and raise a family, they'll wise up and start voting for conservative candidates.
When it is your pocketbook that politicians are trying to pick, you'll care more about policy than personality.

Why don't you research Obama's stand on partial-birth abortions and his votes that a baby that survives a partial-birth abortion can be euthanized legally.
It came during his stint as an Illinois state senator. Use Google. You'll likely see more "right-wing lies" that were written about Obama by left-wing journalsts.

I did not realize, that there were so many Kool Aid drinkers at BYU. Remember to roll your eyes back in
their sockets, as "Lord Obama" permits you to enter
his presence. P.S., Bowing and groveling is required. :-)

Do you even know his stance on abortion? His "values" on this issue are so out of sync with LDS doctrine that it's scary. He even mentioned it would be ok for his daughter to have an abortion if necessary. He didn't want her to be "embarrassed" by an illegitimate child. His 'nay' vote in making illegal late-term abortions is enough for me to realize his moral leanings. If abortion is ok in his view, even after the baby is born, how could I ever consider him as a moral leader?
He is a politician, through and through. He is very talented in being articulate and well-spoken. This is great if he has the moral character to back it up. He will say anything to get a vote. He has focused much of his attention on the youth and it's sad to see that his deception has infiltrated BYU. I would encourage all those who are supporting Obama to really look at his voting record. I think your image of him will drastically change.
