I can see why environmentalists delayed the project for four years: everyone knows that vehicles create more pollution and get worse gas mileage in stop and go traffic jams than at free-flowing 60 mph.

Environmentalists delayed Legacy four years. That was four years of extra traffic jams on I-15. Those traffic jams caused extra pollution to be emitted and wasted gas with worse gas mileage. How much damage did environmentalists end up doing to the enviorment the past four year with these unneccesary traffic jams?

I get the feeling the goal of environmentalists is to do what is best for their agenda and not necessarily what is best for the environment. That is a shame. That turns liberals like myself away from their cause.

We need reasonable, realistic environmental organzations in this country to push for what is truly best for the environment, and not just be argumentative extremists.

I have to admit if everyday is like Monday morning--Legacy will be smooth sailing. It was less busy than Redwood Road.

Now, if we can keep the idiots who think it is their responsibility to keep the speed limit to 55 on the right side of the road I will be happy.

I was stuck between two cars that were side by side and who drove all the way from 215 to Farmington. They had several cars behind them that wanted to pass but these guys would not let anyone pass.

horns | 3:51 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
Re: Steve, That's what horns are for. Utahns seem to be absolutely terrified at either using the horn or being honked at, but the horn is there for a reason. I'd say telling slow people to move over (which is the law, by the way), is an appropriate reason.

All hail King Rocky! I can almost see him standing on his beautiful roadside towers (rameumptons?) pontificating about how he saved all the ducks! I guess it's better than nothing, but I wonder how long it will take for people to realize that if they go 65 mph on I-15, they will still get to West Valley faster than if they go 55 mph on Rocky's Nature Trail? (This A.M., most people were flying by me like I was standing still. I'm sure the UHP is waiting in the wings with tickets for speeders as soon as the confetti is swept up!)

All in all, however, the trip is better that before when there was daily gridlock. Now if we can get the speed limit up to 65 mph and add a couple more lanes, it would really be a good addition to the state's system of transportation.

But Steve the speed limit is 55 - they were going the speed limit. If you want to go 80 stay on I-15

But driving 80 mph of Legacy is as smooth as silk!
Global Warming | 5:23 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
The delay of the parkway is probably a cause of global warming. Not only do cars burn more fuel in bogged down traffic as the first poster noted...but the HOT tempers of all those drivers stuck in traffic surely cause the global temperature to raise a degree or two.

I'm so glad they finally got it built. NOW, if UHP could come up with a policy to not give speeding tickets to anyone going less than 75mph, we could get around that stupid 55mph speed limit the idot mayor and his cronies imposed upon us. How stupid is that? Everyone will start using I-15 again, and we'll end up with the same problem we had.

Legacy will be very similar to Bangerter Highway. The speed limit on Bangerter is 55 MPH in most places and if I go anything slower than 60 MPH I am honked at and flipped off. I have been going 60-65 on Bangerter and cops have passed me on a regular basis. The 55 MPH speed limit is irrelevant. You just go as fast as the guy ahead of you goes, and eventually there will be two slow pokes together in their Buicks going 50MPH holding up the line of cars. Great system!
