Interesting topic... | 12:41 a.m. Sept. 17, 2008
This column reminds me of a story that was very popular right after President Kennedy's assassination--pointing out the eerie similarities between Kennedy and Lincoln.

What I think it really shows is our strong desire to find meaning and order in the universe--perhaps this is the reason many superstitions were also born.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, by all means believe to your heart's content. Who knows, maybe you're right.

My mom used to criticize me for wasting time on topics and subjects that meant nothing.

Obviously, she never got to this author/researcher. Worry about why the Native Americans have lousy health care, worry about why we have lost 4000 soldiers in an illegal war, worry...

Move on to something that has merit.

Illegal war?

I guess your talking about something of which I am not aware.

I only know of our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

It was a fun article. If what you say is true then it may be possible to look to future events and pick a probable date for it to occur.Probably not alot of other things to write about? After all you want to keep your job even if you write about stuff that most people have little interest or knowledge about. If we did not have writers like you we would not have fun places like Barnes and Noble to lounge around sipping our latte and reading books we have no real intention of purchasing.

Speaking of symbolism, the month of April is significant. I will give some examples

Martin Harris becomes Joseph Smiths scribe Apr 12,1828

The Church was restored in April, 1830 years after the coming of Christ in the flesh. (see D&C 20:1

April 1, 1836; vision of Savior in Kirtland Temple

April 1841 Joseph Smith married his first recorded plural wife, Louisa Beaman

Christ died and was resurrected in the month of April.

In the book of Mormon, the destruction of the people at the time of Christ’s crucifixion occurred in April. It says in 3 Nephi that it happened in the first month. The first month of the Hebrew calendar called Nissan was when the Passover occurred. Ancient cultures celebrated the New Year on or around April 1st.

The revolutionary war began on Apr 17,1775 and ended on Apr 14, 1783

The Civil war began April 12, 1861 and ended Apr 9, 1865

Let’s do a little research. Joseph tells us in Doctrine and Covenants Section 128 v. 20 that Peter, James and John appeared “in the wilderness between Harmony, Susquehanna County, and Colesville, Broome County, on the Susquehanna river.” This was the general location of Joseph and Oliver as they worked on the translation of the Book of Mormon and where they were visited earlier by John the Baptist. Section 18 v. 9 received in June 1829 refers to Joseph and Oliver as Apostles. On May 28, 1829 David Witmer moved Joseph, Emma and Oliver to Fayette. Conclusion, the Melchizedec Priesthood was restored between May 15, 1829 and May 27, 1829 (see Ensign December 1996 p. 30 Larry C. Porter). With respect to the First Vision, Joseph said in one account that he thought the leaves on the trees would burn. There are no leaves on the trees in upstate New York on March 21. A good definition of a mystery: something that can only be known by revelation or something that can only be learned in the Temple. Otherwise an interesting speculation.

The resurrected Christ appeared to Joseph Smith on Easter Sunday, Apr.2, 1820, which by coincidence was 18 Nisan for that year in the Jewish calendar - 18 Nisan was the same day that Jesus Christ rose from the dead in 30 A.D. (Apr.9)

There's a saying that a coincidence is just God working anonymously.
