If we are having this much trouble with weber state our undefeated streak wont last past next week
Craig | 7:05 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
I like rooting for the underdog. This would be as good as USC loss to Oregon. Go Weber State!!
No Worries | 7:10 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
With the score now 17-7 I don't think we have much to worry about. Sorry Zoobies!!

GO UTES!!

wow, brag to cougar fans with win over the kitties! cmon, get real and play someone you can brag about, utes will lose in oregon and then one more, trust me they will blow it! Cougars just win with class!!
Dave | 7:21 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
24-7 at halftime. We have gained 277 yards in the first half. I would agree that we don't have too much to worry about.

Let's just stay healthy in the second half and get ready to put a hurtin on Oregon St. on Thursday!!

Go UTES!!
Mormon | 7:26 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
The Utes are the class of the Mtn West. I love football season! They will prevail in the end and be the conference champs!! GO UTES!!
RE: football fan | 7:28 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
you are demonstrating a lot of class there pal. Who has BYU beat besides every conference cellar dwellar?
re mr class | 7:29 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
who have the utes beat there chief?
slickute | 7:37 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Hey we beat the aggies pal! We plan on taking on southern utah next, you got a problem with that, do you think those cougars can take the aggies like we did.
Anonymous | 7:38 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Whoever you root for to say the Utes are the class of the conference is hilarious. Who has the winning streak? You're dreaming dude.....talk ALL you want, but BYU is (now) in the top 10. How about U? BYU is on their way to their 3rd straight undefeated conference record. How about U?
Both teams have played lame competition this year. Washington - weak. Michigan - weak. Sorry. So comparing schedules (aren't you playing Weber tonight??) isn't going to work! Keep posting people!
I'm going to go watch an interesting game....how's RSL doing?
SoCalUtahFan | 7:40 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
BYU has not beat anyone at all...1-3 UCLA, 0-3 Washington, NIA, 2-3 Wyoming are nothing to be proud of.
On the other hand, Utah's opponents are getting better fast. UNLV is 3-1. Air Force (3-1)will prove itself when they beat Navy (who just beat #12 Wake Forest). And Michigan just kicked #9 Wis off top 10.
So there is no argument at all --Utah's schedule so far is much stronger than BYU.
Dave | 7:41 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
The Utes have beaten Michigan in the big house who just beat Wisconsin the #9 ranked team. They also beat UNLV who then beat Arizona St. when they were ranked #15.

The bigger question is who has BYU beat this year??
RE: 7:28 | 7:44 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Uh oh! Somebody hit a nerve. I guess the fact that it took the Utes till the second quarter to get ahead of Weber Technical College has made a few people uptight. BYU's opponents might not be in the top level of college football, but we don't let them hang with us (except for Washington) until the second half. 103-0 over the last two games. 59-0 over UCLA. #25 Fresno St let them score 31 points today and barely won. You couldn't even hold Weber scoreless for the first quarter. Better onside kick in the second half so that your ranking doesn't slip. You don't want to beat a Div 2 team by anything less than a shellacking.
Mormon | 7:45 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Didn't you play Northern Iowa? Wow!! Impressive. U are jealous of the Utes. We are the class of this conference.
BYU winning streak | 7:47 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
is nothing to be proud of. No ranked team during the streak.

Just look at the non-conference teams that BYU has played and won during the streak...Eastern Washington, UCLA (2x), NIA, and Washington. UCLA and Washington are obvious bottom teams in PAC-10 since the end of last season. Eastern Washing and NIA --enought said.
on the clock | 7:50 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
That Michigan win is looking more & more like a quality win for Utah - seeing that the Wolverines beat the #9 ranked Wisconsin Badgers today.

BYU will probably be in the Top 10 tomorrow. The odds are against an undefeated showdown between the Utes & Cougars - but the state of Utah is well represented by two quality programs.
Jucco Northern Iowa | 7:53 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Nice, Northern Iowa, now there is some real stiff competition...must be because they are a divsion II school

BYU will win the Jucco this year
RE: football fan | 7:55 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Hey, there! I LOVE your definition of class. BYU, both the team and especially the fans, are sorely lacking in class. I've never seen more arrogance. And, just for the record, Michigan beat #9 today. Utes beat Michigan. Are ya scared?
re: Dave | 8:05 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
who has BYU beaten this year? Juco-level football programs --NIA, Washington, UCLA, Wyoming

UCLA, Washington probably can't beat UNLV if they play.
re: Craig | 8:06 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Good night, Weber and Coach Mac.
RE:7:55 | 8:07 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
No.
RE: 8:07 | 8:07 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Maybe you should be.
casual fan | 8:12 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Doesn't matter who's playing, it always degenerates into a juvenile exchange between Utah and BYU fans.
It doesn't reflect well on either side. Both sets of fans demonstrate a tremendous degree of arrogance. Maybe if both BYU and Utah were upset by a relative unknown, it would be a good thing. I know I'd laugh...
Ute Alumn | 8:32 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
I'm pretty sick of the banter back and forth between us and zoobies over weak schedules and who beat who.
Both programs are ranked. Both programs deserve to be ranked because both programs are undefeated with some impressive victories on both sides. And now, simply by virtue of the fact that we both have to play each other, and we both have to play TCU, neither team has a weak schedule. I say kudos to both programs and the mountain West in general. This is shaping up to be a great season. I give the cougars credit for an impressive season so far, just as I do the Utes. It will make for a killer game in November (with the Utes coming out the victors!)
RE: football fan | 8:33 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
I will bet you $100 million that Utah will not lose IN Oregon on Thursday.
RE: football fan | 8:39 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
For the record next week's game vs. Oregon St. is at RES not Oregon St.
Re: Anonymous 7:38 | 8:50 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Is it just you or is it a collective effort by BYU fans in general. How you people can take the completion of one conference game and extrapolate it across the rest of the season is truly a marvel to behold.

Please explain to me how you can say that BYU is on their way to their 3rd undefeated record after playing just one game?!?!

I am a BYU fan but honestly...
Missouri Ute | 8:58 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
I don't follow the detail closely enough; can anyone tell me how many points Northern Iowa scored on BYU?

Also, any opinion which team is better, Northern Iowa or Weber? I'm thinking it's Weber but I don't have support for it...it's more of a guess.

Thanks
Nice Job Weber | 9:07 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Way to fight Wildcats! Congrats Utes, now take care of business against Oregon State Thursday to shut the Zoobies up!

Bring on the Aggies -- I got Weber as a -7.5 favorite right now!
Blackout | 9:08 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Call me a traditionalist, but I think the only color Utah has any business wearing is Crimson and White. I know it's gimmicky right now to have a "Blackout" game or some other color, but after watching Georgia wear all black for their funeral, I hope the athletic department reconsiders this promo
wYo8 | 9:17 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
The Streak does include the Yewts twice, ENOUGH said. Until you break your two game losing streak everything is just smack or twitt talk.
MIchigan knows... | 9:18 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Who the Utes have beaten!

Did anyone notice the score of the Michigan Wisconsin game?? Just curious...

And the two "Tough" teams that TDS played??

Lets see.... ( AP poll unranked)Oregon hung over 60 on "referee gift" Washington. MIghty Jake Locker managed 14 points! WOW! Great DFENSE COOGIES!

And mighty (ALMOST ranked when you played them) UCLA. Lost to an overrated WAC team.

Impressive scheduling there coogies. Face it, your Natinal ranking is smoke and mirrors. The Country will soon know the truth.

MIchigan will end the season ranked, and Oregon State WILL be ranked on THU when we beat them. NO MORE SCHEDULING SMACK TALK!!!!! WE WIN!

Can't wait for Nov. 22nd! I hear the concessions will be serving humble pie to anyone wearing aggie blue! GO UTES!!!! COUGAR KILLER STRIKES AGAIN!!
Michigan | 9:22 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Interesting. I just saw a run down on the Michigan game. Their second half comeback was phenomenal. It is interesting to note that it was the second half when Utah began having trouble with them, yet we held.

Congratulations again, Utah on what appears to be a quality win at the "Big House" last month!

I also see that UCLA lost again today and that Washington is tied at the half with a very poor Stanford team. There will be no congratulations to the Cougs in this post...
Come on | 9:23 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Re:Re: 7:28

Really? You don't let inferior teams stick around? You mean Northern Iowa wasn't threatening in the THIRD QUARTER vs. the almighty Cougs? I seem to be remember that differently.

Hey "football fan 7:20 p.m." I'm not quite sure how the Utes are going to lose "in Oregon" when the game is at Rice Eccles. Before you shoot off your mouth you might want to know what you are talking about. And you're right the Cougars do win with class, but only after they make sure Max Hall gets his seventh TD pass in an already 42-0 blowout. Real classy.
proves nothing | 9:24 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Why are there ute fans beating their chests saying how great their team is and basing it on UNLV's win over ASU and now Michigan beating Wisconsin? All that UNLV's and Michigan's wins prove is that the teams they beat were OVERRATED.

Wisconsin beat a couple of patsies and then struggled to beat Fresno St 13-10. Wow some 9th ranked team and now they lost to unranked Michigan. Whoo-hoo. That just drives home how weak the Big 10 is.

Time to come down out of the clouds ute fans. Your team isn't as good as you imagine.
Bob in line | 9:24 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Good win for Utah, in that it is hard to get up for games like this. I would bet most of the Ute players have Oregon St on their mind, knowing if they beat them it means something relative to USC.

There is little use trying to compare opponents in trying to say who is better between BYU and Utah. They get to find out the old fashioned way by playing each other.

And while some Utah fans are saying Utah is the flag ship of the conference, the polls don't see it that way.

In case, good win for Utah. I hope they beat the crud out of Oregon St by another UCLA type thrashing, win out until the Holy War and then lose a close one to BYU.

BYU goes to the BCS/Fiesta, Utah earns a trip to the other BCS/Rose Bowl.

Good game Utes.
Go BYU!
Y Grad / Y Dad | 9:25 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Hey, Utah, now you too know the definition of "a win is a win." Keep telling yourselves that the Y's schedule is weak, if it makes you feel better.

Look, you done good so far, and you do have the better schedule, and yet the team down south gets more love. Deal with it. The time and place is appointed, and we can fill it with smack, or we can enjoy both our own victories and each others'.

The bottom line is, we both still have to get past a lot of football to make the showdown on your turf THE game of the year. By then, THE WHOLE COUNTRY WILL BE WATCHING. Here's hoping that both teams give them something they'll never forget.

And for me personally, I'm hoping for an outcome just like the past two years, but you could have guessed that.

Hang in there, Utes! Here's one Y fan that is resisting the temptation to wish ill for my brother to the north.
same | 9:34 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
and BYU is so much better?
re: proves nothing | 9:35 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
"time to come down out of the clouds. Your team isn't as good as you imagine"? Hi Pot, meet Mr. Kettle... but please run by me again why UCLA beating Tennessee was so good, since Tenn played Auburn close today... blah, blah, blah.
doesn't matter | 9:40 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
..ute fans that your team dominated "big time" Weber St tonight. We're coming after you. We love playing at RES because it's an easy place for us to win. It's going to be so sad to see all the ute fans cry again as BYU's backups kneel away the last 1:30 of the game on Nov 22. Well maybe not exactly sad, more like really great.
Utah kudos from the Y | 9:45 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Way to hold on utes! U guys are unstoppable! Go UTES!
Everything is relative. | 9:49 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Washington is currently down 7 at halftime to a weak Stanford team who beat Oregon St., who beat USC, who was supposed to be the best team in the country. The only thing both BYU and Utah can do is win their games. They can't make other teams play or prepare better or worse for their games. For the person who said BYU hasn't beat anyone during their streak I ask why don't you consider Utah someone? If Utah has been good and BYU has beat them the last two years, then it was a win over a good team. That means everyone Utah beat, BYU would have beat also. DUH.
Can't wait | 10:06 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
November 22 will settle the score. Cheap talk on both sides is childish, childish, childish.

I can hardly wait till the BIG game, with both teams coming in undefeated, and based on how the teams are playing right now, I think we all know who will probably be favored - and ultimately win.
BYU Fan | 10:10 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Congrats on the win to all U fans (that are not Y haters). Here's to hoping both go undefeated into the big game with the BCS bid on the line!
BYU has an easy one Friday, but the Oregon St./U game should be explosive.
Comparing schedules is pointless. Especially since Utah just played Weber St. I mean, come on. Seriously? And we're playing Ut. St. Friday, so there's no comparisons coming from my way either...
But I can't help but say one thing: Northern Iowa would eat Weber St. for breakfast. There is absolutely zero question there.
....Looking forward to November........Congrats again on the win.
GO COUGARS!!!!!
Who cares? | 10:11 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Who cares if Michigan beat Wisconsin and OSU beat USC? The Utes only beat Weber St. by 16 points. I had to do a double take when I saw the score. That's doesn't look too good now does it?
Ute in SF | 10:16 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
All byu fans I know are very, very nervous about the game against the Utes. No matter what cougar fans post here, THEY ARE ALL NERVOUS!!!!
And... | 10:18 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Score looks closer than it was, realize Weber put up 14 points in the 4th quarter when the 2nd / 3rd string was in. Game was out of reach by then, no reason to risk starters getting injured. Final score makes it look like a tough game but Utah was sure and steady.
3-peat | 10:21 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat, 3-peat!

Now who's nervous???
What? | 10:25 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
Re: Everything is relative...you read that post before you hit the button, didn't you? And it made sense to you??

Re: BYU Fan 10:10...please explain on what you base your conclusion that NI would eat Weber St for breakfast. Do you have support for this and what is it? I'm curious.
Impressed | 10:26 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008
I agree ... Utah has had a better schedule. But BYU has done well by shutting out the last two opponents (not easy to do regardless of the opponent). It is worth noting Utah could have won by more if Kyle didn't have an appreciation for what McBride has done for him.

I'm predictably irritated they let twelve year old brats dominate these discussions. Every now and then I'm in agreement with posts like Ute Alum and BYU Grad. I would love to have the national focus on Utes and Cougs in Nov as they hopefully combine the Holy War with The Battle of the Unbeatens. So I'm another who's pulling for both teams so the Cougs can win another close one!

Let's all stop with the pointless jabs and childish bickering about issues that don't matter and focus on what would be an awesome scenerio with both in the top ten battling for BCS Bowl
