The Party is Over....The Republican Party that is!
Bungles,Failures,Miss-appropriations,War money,Bailout deceit, corruption at state and Federal levels, greed, pride, the crushing of the poor, needy and naked. I only have 200 words to write of the complete failures have the Republican Party has manufactured in 8 yrs, but I need volumes, just for the "Introduction"
Its a very depressing story, but factual.Lets not repeat this history again.

Public service is now self service. It is insane that legislators can take campaign money for personal use. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Until it is 100% illegal to accept ANYTHING from special interests - the system you have in place will be a corrupt one.

have got to go. Even when the legislators say they're not effected by "gifts" for particular outcome, you know that they are. It's just human nature. It's time the legislature just got rid of them all together. If you don't think it's worth being a legislator without the "perks"...don't run.

The need for ethics reform in the Utah State Legislature has been blaringly obvious and has been much discussed for years without result. We now have a fulcrum point that is more than an appearance of impropriety by always favoring businesses and lobbyists over constituents accompanied by gifts, food and prime seats at high-priced sporting events.

That this ethics review is going to be held behind closed doors does not bode well for the outcome. The history of this legislative body and the biannual return of those who encourage the perpetuation of this corruption is not encouraging as well.

Representative Allen please continue with your efforts to achieve reform. As laudable as your efforts have been in various efforts in the past, the people of this state have been suckered into supporting far right wing ideologue more concerned with maintaining power than appropriate governing.

We have sadly lost the vision of Jefferson's "well informed electorate."

The ethics problem just demonstrates the total corruption of our current system. Holding it behind closed doors shows they have no intention of being honest. Good government is transparent government. We have a duty to get out and vote and participate. Get up and get going. We voted them in and we can vote them out. As for me, there is no need for term limitations. They do one term and then they are out. Leave 'em in and they get corrupted and stay corrupt when the get out and go to work for who ever bought them while they were in there. We have the best polititions money can buy ! Get up off the couch and get involved and make the change happen. Like I said, we voted them in and we can vote them out.
