I watched the first episode Tuesday night because as much as I love intelligent TV I needed a break from the debate. My daughter had warned me how clueless these women were but I had to see for myself. Sure most of us would like to have more money and I'm Suuure these women love/loved their men. But flaunting money however it is made is about as unclassy as it gets. And could someone please give some diction lessons, have them read a news article or two and mention their kids to break the monotony!

Yikes! I have to admit I feel sorry for several of these women, and am disappointed in myself that I choose to watch. I hate shows that promote a lack of decency, authentic kindness and human respect. I agree with Denise, money in and of itself does not asure you are classy. It fact, I have met more middle class, hard working people who live such standards of decency that classy is the best word to describe them. After seeing this show, I don't wish wealth on anyone, if that what happens to you by having it!

show. I'm embarrassed that people from other countries watch this and think this is our norm. These women capture the market on trashy, tacky clothing and appearing synthetic with no future for intellegent thought. Most of the wealthy in this country are nothing like these women. Money did not cause this. They brought these persona's with them, it's just amplified by the money. I worry for the children of these women because they will probably only perpetuate this obnoxious behavior.

Don't watch the trash | 7:28 a.m. Oct. 8, 2008
I choose not to watch. I some news and some old shows. All reality TV seems to be trash. I don't understand how it stays on the air.
A choice | 8:25 a.m. Oct. 8, 2008
Choose your reality show:
1. Repulsive, spoiled women flaunt their husbands' (or exes') money earned from entertainment careers and revel in how wonderful they are.
2. Young mixed martial artists and fighter wannabes live in a house in Las Vegas for eight weeks, where they train, spar, fight, and sometimes get drunk and trash the house.
Hmmm.
I'll take #2. The people are far less unpleasant, and there is actual entertainment value to the show.

It's good to know there are still people out there proving that money does not equal class.
To: A choice | 8:46 a.m. Oct. 8, 2008
you forgot to mention a third option:
3. Avoid wasting time with either show.
I don't think the word "value" can at all be used to describe those reality shows.

the show is awful.let me rephrase that, the women are awful, with exception to deshawn snow.sheree is a golddigger, nene is GHETTO,kim -the token white girl is confused, doesnt know her place and trashy, and lastly lisa get a grip you are not kimora but i do admire the fact that you make your own money,it's just that money isnt the only thing you should focus on.make money and enjoy it,then help enrich someone else's life other than your own.bad portrayal of the elite, wealthy women in atlanta.socialite,is definitely not none of these women.SORRY

How did I end up on this page?
Did I really just read this whole article?
I have to say I think it is unfair to make a documentary about sociopathic narcisists without offering them treatment for their disease. Seriously, these people are way more dangerous than meth addicts and alchoholics, they are ill.

The more stupid shows that come out like this, the more its going to have an effect on women in our society. Its this for women in their 30s and 40s and the trash on MTV for the younger ones.

I actually watched the Housewives of Orange County, and actually enjoyed it when they got rid of Jo and Slade. Yes these women were caught up in money, but at least most of them worked for their money. They had drama with kids etc...and it made them seem more "REAL". After watching a couple of episodes of Housewives of New York, and last nights episode of Housewives of Atlanta, all I can say is I would rather hang with the women on the west coast any day!
Christina | 8:47 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
I watched tidbits of this show and am embarrassed to say I live on the south side of Atlanta. How trashy they should be ashamed of theirselves. Somebody should do a show on how real "housewives" juggle kids a husband and going back to school to better themselves. And who in their right mind tagged them with money (it's not theirs) and class there was definetly none seen on the show.

This is a hilarious show-I loved the OC Ladies as well as NYC but these ladies in Atlanta at GHETTO!!! How funny are they?! I added this to my Tivo Season Pass, they REALLY belong in Oakland California.......

I am so embarrassed by these women's behavior. The basketball player's wife is so disillusioned, is he going to have enough money to up keep that house and the staff that goes with it. The one that is divorcing the NFL player is....well....just greedy!! It was never her money to begin with!!
A fan! | 11:25 p.m. Oct. 12, 2008
If you watch edited scenes online, you'll see that the basketballer's wife who said she was destined for greatness actually went to college, worked as a banker and does real estate along side being a mum. I get some inspiration from the show especially from Lisa and Deshwan because they are classy, have actually have worked for their money and of course their marriages!
I'm not so into Sheree and Kim's alimony claim to wealth but Sheree grew up upper middleclass and Nene, very down too earth sometime too loud.

The women (Deshawn and Nene) have foundations that support various charitable causes and serve on various boards. They are not perfect just the way poorer women might be hard working but have their own negative issues!
I like the show and I'm inspired to work harder!

it is very sad that these women have brought black women who work hard and want to be portayed in a decent, polished manner and yet uphold the culture back to prejudicial times. Note not all african american are so narcistic, vain and yet still hold themselves in high regard. "Real wives of atlanta" there is nothing real about you all. a

I must say some of the ladies display a superficial persona or "Fakeness" and act as if they are trying too hard to be something they are not. I commend these women. I know this is not an easy thing to do. All the different women bring a balance to the show.
We need to give it more time maybe!. Viewers, take into consideration that most of them had no careers prior to being housewives and the charities is to give them something to do besides waste money and perhaps a sense of purpose. But so many women make the mistake in thinking when they are blessed to be married to these men, that they are special and they develop this attitude that is unreal. They are in love with the idea of having unnecessary things. Come on ..A Personal Manager??? What? Besides, WHO ARE YOU AGAIN? THE WIFE! This is why life becomes so devastating when that man leaves or cheats. Because you get so caught up in world that you forget "Reality" NONE of these women seem grateful or humble...

Wow! You know, money doesn't buy class! Never did, never will. I couldn't help but watch the show, to see just how these women portrayed themselves & interacted amongst one another. I thought Deshawn needs a reality check...you are not doing that much with your time...you can clean one room a day, you don't need to hire a person for every job in the house. Sheree....well, only God knows! I admire Lisa, she is making her own money! The other two, well some things are better left unsaid. Besides, I only have so much to write. I kept thinking what are these women teaching their children/teens, but especially their daughters? These girls will grow up & literally think the world owes them something....& will experience a very rude awakening! Not the way life works! Lastly, as we know, money can buy material things, but it cannot build character in us. I can eat lobster tonight, have a peanut butter & jelly sandwich tomorrow, & I will still be Cheryl. The lobster didn't make me someone better, & the peanut butter & jelly sandwich definitely didn't make me less of who I already am. Let's work from the inside out. Peace

I believe that these are all lovely women that are simply providing a tidbit of their lives while incorporating an element of "entertainment" for viewers. Anyone who judges them should take a minute to think about how their own lives would be portrayed on a reality series..........and what is this "their husbands money" nonsense?, HA! If Y-O-U were married to someone who acquired wealth would it be H-I-S....or.....O-U-R-S?!......be honest with yourselves people. Stop being so critical and enjoy the show for what it is. Get over yourselves all of you chauvinistic, judgmental, and cruel individuals. You take out the time to demean, degrade and belittle these women but when was the last time you volunteered in your community or gave blood or nurtured someone other than yourself. These women are all sexy, beautiful, intelligent, classy and HOT!!!!I absolutely LOVE the show! You Go Girls!!!!!!! I wish there was a show called If These Walls Could Talk where entertainers were able to watch us viewers and comment, then many of you would realize that words hurt. Wake-up people...YOU DO NOT KNOW THESE WOMEN! Be kind. God loves them and you too.(I wonder what THEY think when they read our words) hmmm.

I am sooooo grateful for this show and these women! It's such a breath of fresh air to see African American women on national t.v. who are NOT poor, down trodden, dealing with baby-daddy drama, and oh---did I say--poor? The commenter above and below trash this show because it's out of their comfort zone.
White folks are used to seeing, and only want to see "Good Times" Black people struggling from paycheck to paycheck. Hence, the comments above and below. Naawwww, Bravo, thank you.
If you give me a choice of seeing Florida Evans scrounging shoes from the dumpster and a Black woman who can well afford over 1,000 shoes---well---you know the rest...Thank you, Bravo! Braaavo to Bravo!!!

and more....
I want MORE MORE MORE of rich Black women. I want more more more of well to do, organized, socialite, educated, business oriented, entreprenurial, Black women. I want MORE. Because IF these women are lonely or whatever like the REST of so many women-white and black, at LEAST they aren't fighting drugs, 2nd grade educations, poor, in front of a judge, or behind bars as MOST of White America is used to seeing on t.v. and WANTS to see. Brrraaaaavo, Bravo!!!! Give us MORE!

POVERSITAS (POOR THINGS), DON'T THEY KNOW THAT THEY LOOK LIKE RETARDS ON NATIONAL TV. I HAVE ONLY SEEN PART OF THE SHOW ONCE. I KNEW FOR SURE MOST OF THESE WOMEN WERE/ARE MARRIED TO AN ATHELETE. REAL WOMEN WHO ACCOMPLISHED WEALTH ON THERE OWN ARE SMART ENOUGH NOT TO ACT LIKE FOOLS.
Anonymous | 9:21 a.m. Oct. 23, 2008
All of the women on the show rub me the wrong way. But DeShawn Snow takes the cake. I can't belive she's hiring a staff of people to be all up and through her house. I couldn't have strangers in my house like that around my kids and my husband. I watch a lot of reality TV and my favorite by far is the one that shows Deon Sanders and his family. They have lots of money and his wife works in the house. To me she's a real housewife. I may not have the money Ms. P has but I can identify with her. She runs the kids around, cooks, cleans and stil finds time to look fabulous and spend time with her girls. Plus, she's married to Deon and he is a handful LOL. I'll keep watching Real Housewives until Deon and Pilar come back on. To me Deon and Pilar seem to live a more normal life. They just have money and cows--- LOL again. The cows are Dee's tax break! I just love them.

I love Real Housewives of Atlanta. It has become my favorite show. I can't wait to see it next week. Sheree is my favorite. I am not too keen on DeShawn. It rubbed me the wrong way when she talks about being a memeber of Eddie Long's church and having access to him (which I would consider to be a pretty big ordeal considering the size of the congregation), however she is present at Kim's Tarot Card reading to provide moral support. That turned me off. Personally, I consider that as being "unequally yoked" with your friends. Sheree is very attractive and exetremly vain. I find it fascinating that a person can be that self-absorded. It's not natural. That's why I love the show.
Ms. Noah | 8:01 a.m. Oct. 28, 2008
I love the show and all the women self- absorbed or not. We ( meaning black folk) like to be flashy. Classy or not. If they got it go on they got it go on. Regardless how they got that wealth or so called wealth they have it. Keep your heads up ladies. The only things I didn't like was Deshawn Snow ideas of house staff or may I say estate manager. No, she does not have that type of money to have it go on like that. She shouldn't want people all up in through her home like that. But if she thinks she likes I'll love it for her. I didn't agree with all the ladies going to the card reader. Friend support can only go so far.
Iisaiswonderful | 11:32 p.m. Oct. 29, 2008
First know what you are talking about before you write someting. Kim isn't married to anyone.
The show is great, the best thus far for the series. It's about time they have shown beautiful black women who are successful.
You go ladies, keep up the great work.

I love RHWOA! This the most entertaining show on TV. Everyone is not going to be "your" perception of what a housewife should act like. They are what they are 5 unique women. DeShawn I think has her heart in the right place she just needs help putting it together. Lisa is the Energizer Bunny she has so much going on. She is pushing it to the limit and keeping her finances straight. NeNe is so hilarious! I love NeNe because she is REAL! Money didn't change her. She even tried to help DeShawn with her auction no one else stepped up. Kim is FAKE & she is kissing Sheree's butt. I cannot stand her at all. Sheree is a GOLD DIGGER that is so very self centered. Men of Atlanta pass this one up! Please get a clue you are not the Alpha & Omega of Atlanta.
Rose | 10:53 a.m. Nov. 6, 2008
Flipping through the channels the other night I happened on RHWOA! It was a marathon apparently. Back to back shows. It was like watching a train wreck!!! I couldn't look away! I have black women friends that have loads of money and believe me they don't act like that!!!!! Trash is trash, money can not buy class! Why would any woman want to be on that show? I'm still in shock!
Tessa | 1:49 p.m. Nov. 15, 2008
RHWOA is great for its entertainment value!! If we're honest, we all have at least one friend who is like one of the housewives...I have a friend who's like NeNe just without the $$$ and husband. The women all have flaws, some more so than others. Remember, we're just glimpsing their lives. Before we condemn too much, what would a glimpse into our lives look like? Certainly not always flattering I'm sure. A friend of mine has a high profile job which places her in the public eye from time to time. She declined the numerous reality TV opportunities that came her way because she knew that while aspects of her life would make for good TV some wouldn't. She opted not to:she said the levels of intrusion wasn't dignified. Some of these ladies might just want to take a note...the goal is to be dignified.
Rachel | 10:46 a.m. Nov. 21, 2008
I can not believe that Nene made the comment about the women staying home with the kids and that not being "strong-ness". That is ridiculous. My husband is in the Navy and makes very little money for the work he does and the hours he puts in. I guarentee that none of these women's husbands work as much as mine does. I bet none of them leave for a whole year at a time and we make less than $50,000 a year. The fact that I stay home and raise our kids, balance our budget, and make our life a good one, makes me so much stronger than any of the women on that show.
