There is very little difference between this politician's written comment and Senator Buttars' spoken words. This story illustrates very clearly the double standard regarding issues of "racial insensitivity", not only with respect to the NAACP, but also the Democratic Party and the news media.

Which is the offense, saying something with a percieved racial slant, or being of the opposite political party. The NAACP truely wants the issue in their favor both times - which is the double standard.

I am suprised that after all the political theater of 2006 with the fake Winder tapes that Mr. Evans produced and put forward as real, that any legitimate news organization would take seriously the machinations of James Evans.
Who knows what other garbage this sordid little demogogue will try to sell us now.... must be October of a general election year.
I am quite certain that on this issue or any other, that if Mr. Evans insists the sun rises in the East... i will look to the West.

Twin Tales is exactly correct. This is so typical of the Democrats. They call a republican out for making an untentional slurr and they think that they can do the same without consequences. Senator Buttar's comments were totally wrong, but they were no different from this politican's comments. NAACP you must represent both sides of the argument!

Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi performs and Al Jolson skit by painting his face black, his lips white and sings the song 'Mammy.'
Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia was a member of the KKK.
Both of these Senators did these actions in the past. Both apologized for them.
Senator Lott is a racist. And the KKK member is a good, solid Democrat.
Racism has two faces in America. One is real, the other is what ever the Democrats and the media say it is.
This is why those who care about America and race spend their efforts with the Urban League, and not the NAACP.
I remember a few years back a white City Council member in the mid-west was attacked as being racist because he referred to someone as being "of color."
Interesting when you consider that NAACP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Again, Democrats can use the word and it's OK. Others and its racist.
It has reached the point that when I hear the word 'racism' used I no longer pay attention. I figure it is only a shame tool for another left-wing, liberal hack crying wolf, again.

What's James Evans doing anyway by conducting Google searches on opposing candidates. Does he think he's Big Brother, a spy. Nice try, Evans, but the voters aren't going to buy into your dirty tricks.

Wow! Jeanette is saying that since James Evans is not in the NAACP he has no voice? What kind of NAACP is this? Apologies are only accepted from Democrats? signed Publius

James Evans has some nerve! He will call Racism whenever it suits his CORRUPT Party! And this is coming from a brother, but from anotha motha.

Listening to James Evans pontificate about morality and ethics regarding public statements is a lot like watching Colonel Sanders getting ready to season some chickens with his eleven herbs and spices.

Pugmire's comments are a little questionable, but they are not in the same league with Buttar's. Additionally, after apologizing, Buttars made even more insensitive statements. Please leave this alone and quit embarrassing MY Republican party. Buttars is doing just fine all by himself!

If Pugmire did no wrong, why did he take down the comment?
alimay | 12:37 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
Sounds like he removed the comment to appease the whiners.
I grew up in a racially diverse area & comments were made in jest amongst friends & we didnt' take each other too seriously. Sad to see that mountains are made out of molehills when it's obvious that rivals are just digging for dirt.

I know Paul Pugmire very well and I can tell you that this comment was nothing more than a lame attempt by the Republican party to bring down a Democrat. Pure and simple.
I'm not sure why the Republicans are worried about an unknown politician on the west side that is running for a county council seat anyway?
In my opinion, it looks like the Republicans are worried about Paul so they are doing whatever they can do to bring him down - this is a desperate reach for straws.
Paul was quoting a movie line that was popular when he was in high school, on his high school reunion website site.
Take off your political glasses and see this comment for what it really is: an attempt to be funny.
