Awesome! We're a better team with CJ starting anyway. Let's hope this sticks.

He's not complaining because he knows he's going to be traded.

If CJ is a starting calliber 3 (I'm not sure because I haven't seen him play this year) and the Jazz have a deep enough team to bring a player like AK off the bench then they are already better than they were last year and it should be a good season.

I am now going to send out subliminal messages to O'Connor and Sloan...

This could be a good thing for AK. As a starter he is a second or third option on offense but in a 6th man role he will have more minutes, have more of the offense run through him as well as be a defensive spark for the 2nd unit. Kirilenko needs to feel valued and I think Sloan is focusing on that point. I hope it works out and we see the AK that played with the Russian team.

This could be similar to what the Spurs do with Manu Ginobli. Bring him off the bench to be a spark in the second unit, but one who plays starter's minutes. Like Korver and Ginobli, though he may come off the bench, he may also be in at the end of the game. Personally, I think it's a shrewd move and I hope Kirilenko embraces the idea, because it could work out well for him and the Jazz.

If they do this the 2nd unit would be Price, Korver, Andrei, Milsap, and (Sloan willing and maybe with divine intervention) Koufas, which would be able to put up the points we lacked last year when the starters sat b/c Paul and Andrei could score in the paint and you have the others to dish it to, so the offense could work. Defensively a frontcourt of Milsap and Andrei and a 7-footer would be tough on teams
Jarren Collins............... | 8:59 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008
..............is the 3rd worst player in the league. Jason Hart is the worst and Jason Collins is the 2nd worst.

Brandon, you're spot on. AK off the bench is a great idea, that is, if AK doesn't throw his hands in the air. If AK embraces his role as a sixth man (who could play starter minutes) and comes in with full force an energy, it should work. It is probably time to see if our investment in CJ will pay dividends anyway. He showed promise when he started last year and shot the lights out from 3. Let's see if his defense is any better than what it has been.

Magnus, the Jazz will never let go of Collins, in spite of our best wishes. We held onto Adam Keefe all those years...coach's pets never get cut.
Dear Collins Haters... | 12:05 a.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Please stop talking. You're embarrassing yourself. He's getting paid basically nothing for a big who can give you five minutes of; fighting for rebounds, drawing fouls, and hustling. What would you do with the other position anyway? Your team is already flirting with the cap and you want to pay off a guys contract so you can pick up another 11th man off the bench? What planet are you people on? The key is to stay under the cap and develp your young talent. Jaron is a good locker room guy and is always ready. Worry about something more important.

To Dear Collins Haters...above. Thank you, thank you. I couldn't agree with you more. Collins is cheap, he's a big man who knows how to use his fouls. He's probabably one of the best 11th man on any team in the league and can fill in in a pinch. People have no clue at how valuable he really is. No he's not a starter and, injuries aside, probably never should be. But as a back up center who knows the game and how to play he is a steal.

Hey you guys have it right. Collins is a good 11th guy, and thats it. There are certain situations that come up where collins shines, like pissing of opposing centers and drawing cheap fouls. Shaq hates this guy. You can't expect all 12 players to be starter quality, even though every other player on the jazz could be a start somewhere else. (except maybe fes and Koufus) Now back to the article, Price Korver Milsap Kirilinko and Koufus could be a decent starting line up, with a bench of Knight Almond Harpring Collins and Fes as the back ups. That is a team with an upside. Forget about Williams Brewer Miles Boozer and Okur being the starters. This is a team that will compete for a championship. Every body on this team has at least to positions and could start on another team. Thats reason enough for me to get excited.

I'll agree with you that Collins does a decent job with the 4-5 minutes a game he gets. But I'd rather see Koufus and Fes enter the game before he does. They still have the potential to blossom into worthwhile players. Collins is pretty much set in his flopping ways. He spends more time on his back than a West Valley prostitute.
