Bruzzer, I agree with you about East getting special treatment last year, they
should not have made the playoffs had the UHSAA enforced the same punishment to
both schools. I also hope that Nelson gets to play this week, he is a great
athlete. I believe any one of Logan, East, or Timpview are capable of winning
the championship this year, I think they are very evenly matched as where most
people believe East has it in the bag.
TBirds to win Yes I agree you guys played the cards that you were dealt and won
it all Congrats East is a different story they forfeit games but not enough
cyprus should have gone in there place plain and simple but then that open a can
of worms in the other region with coin flips and play offs and it was late in
the year cause playoffs had to go on So i dont think it was a fair shake for
everybody involed but last year punishment fits the crime on what nelson did
they got flaged and he was tossed from the game I think that time served lets
move on nelson should get to play and I would say the same thing if was covey
also and if you watch the flim the personal foul first 15 yrd pentaly the Refree
call the flag the further away than the back judge who had a better view and a
lot closer and they were both on scores something smells in denmark in my
btgroupman, Timpview shouldn't have lost to Sky View i think you are
forgetting that Timpview had the ball on the Sky View 5 yard line and threw an
interception preventing them from going up by 2 touchdowns. and then when Sky
View drove down to the 1 yard line Timpview stopped them on downs. How many
times has Region 5 even beat Timpview in the last 5 or 10 years in the last 8
games I think they are like 0 and 8 or something between Logan, Mountain Crest,
and Sky View, and I don't think Sky View will win on Friday either.
Also I believe there are 2 teams from each region, competing
in the 4A Playoffs this week.
The only direct matchup that we could put Logan, vs Timpview with is Sky View.
Timp View should have lost that game and Logan decimated SV. It's all
about how you play that day. But I don't think that there is any way TV
or Logan are going to take down East. I would say logan has the better chance
because of the offensive explosivness. But even still very small chance. Regarding the ejection. Was rediculous. kid wouldn't get off him
he didn't do anything malicious they will probably still beat olympus
without him. But it will end at East anyways. Timp view is the one with an
easy schedule every year. Other than TV that region rarely competes in
Football.. And Region 7 Other than Olympus the weskest division in the
state in Football right now...
Bruzzer: Last year Timpview had one in eligible player, that was not a
starter, that played in 3 games. As a result of that they had to forfeit all 3
games, and 2 of the games were region games so they lost the region championship
even though they beat the teams on the field. Then they had to play Logan at
Logan, Woods Cross at Woods Cross, East at RES, and Mountain Crest to win the
state championship. They had the hardest road to get to the championship, and
we're penalized to the full extent by the UHSAA.
Im sorry this sounds like double jepoary They were flaged he got kick out thats
it and they set the double standards last yr with east and Timp Logan is not a
dirty team my school play them every year I wonder if there are any South High
game films left.
I am a Timpview fan, and in my opinion I hope he gets to play. When Timpview
beat Lone Peak without their star quarterback, and running back it really
didn't feel like a good win. If you want to be the best team, you have to
beat the top competition in the state with their best players playing in the
games. Good luck to all teams and, let's see who the best team is.
@Eagle 78,Logan has earned the right to play on any Utah 4A football field
with their perfect season. If Logan isn't fit to play against East or Timp
then really no one is. I don't think Logan can beat East or Timp even with
Nelson, but I feel they certainly deserve to be on the same field with either
one. And there certainly have been larger upsets than a number 7 beating a
I watched the youtube video of the play a number of times. The vantage point
from the camera sure doesn't look like much of anything. If I didn't
know I was looking for a "kick", it would be hard to spot anything. Maybe the referees had a better vantage point. They were both standing
about 5 feet away and both tossed their flags at the same time indicating they
both saw it the same way.I think it's a tough call on the QB.
I would prefer that ejection be reserved for something much more obvious than
@Uncle SamThe right thing to do here is break the rules because they
did it before? The right thing to do is stop breaking the rules entirely. If
they bent the rules last year then they shouldn't have. They don't
make up for that now by letting other schools do it as well. If the rules say
Nelson should sit out next game then he needs to sit out next game. That might
severely hurt Logan's chances of getting to RES, but rules are rules. If
they don't want to enforce them then they shouldn't make them to begin
with.@Papi_chuloI call it how I see it. Disagree if you
want too. It makes it all the sweeter when the truth gets revealed on the
I just watched Nelson's ejection on YouTube. Petty ejection, he should be
playing next week. If you go on YouTube and search Valley Channel and the game,
go to the 56 minute mark to see his ejection.
Eagle78 is a typical SL homer that needs to take off the crimson colored
@Uncle SamThe UHSAA only bent the rules for East. Timpview received the
full penalty allowed by the rules at the expense of Logan. And even though Logan
came out worse than any other team by it, they handled it in a very classy
way.The other article says he made a "non-malicious kicking
motion in the direction of a defender clinging to his lower body after he had
reached the end zone". That sounds like the guy wouldn't let go, so he
tried to shake him of, not tried to hurt him. I didn't see so I don't
know how petty the penalties were.
@tinplaterI call it how I see it. They barely managed to put a 5-6
team away last night. They only beat them by a touchdown early in the season
too. Also, it is just statistical fact that Logan has had a extremely easy
schedule this year. They walked into the playoffs "undefeated" against
teams with records like 1-9, 2-8, 1-8, 2-8, 5-5. I wouldn't say that Logan
is a bad team by any means, but I just can't look at the facts on the table
and give any credit to the claims that Logan is the best in 4A, or can keep up
with East/Timpview. East rolled over Bountiful already this year just to give
some perspective. Also, I'm not a "arrogant fan" of any of these
schools. MY school had a really rough year and didn't make the
playoffs.@Uncle SamIf they want to do the right thing
they should also break the rules for Logan? What kind of thinking is that? If
they bent them last year then they shouldn't have. Bending them again is
hardly the correct course of action. Nelson should sit if those are the rules.
@Eagle 78Without Nelson, I think Logan will have a difficult time with
Olympus, never mind East or Timpview. As with the missing Chuckie Keeton,
losing your star quarterback is a huge loss to overcome. But to say "that
level of play doesn't belong on the same field" shows you as an
arrogant fan who probably feels they don't even need to play these games,
you will select the obvious winner.
Speaking of East and Timpview, last year the UHSAA bent the rules to allow them
to play after blatalntly breaking rules that should have eliminated both of
their seasons. If the UHSAA wants to do the right thing here, Nelson plays next
That level of play doesn't belong on the same field as Timpview and East.
Logan plays that way against either team and they will get rolled.
so Nelson has to miss next game also? that's the rule in the UHSAA for an
ejection. Can someone verify? If so tough break. Wonder what he did
to warrant that?
